Coronation Street’s Nina Lucas is set for even more tragedy next week, as she struggles to cope with her mounting losses.
Nina, who was involved in a brutal attack led by Corey Brent and his gang, has been grieving for her late boyfriend Seb Franklin.
And things were only made worse when Seb’s mum Abi appeared to blame Nina for the attack for the way she dressed.
Turning her grief inward and consumed by guilt, Nina ditched her Goth clothes and makeup after the attack and turned to more ‘normal’ attire, but during Monday’s episode Abi brought a bag of Nina’s dresses to apologise for the way she’d treated the teenager.
“Seb would want you in the front row, as you,” Abi told her at the time.
The mum had been left broken by the loss of her son, as she packed a bag of Seb’s things to place with him in the coffin, and sat by his side in the funeral parlour talking to him and reminiscing on what she could remember of his childhood.
But despite her appearance at the funeral, it’s clear Nina isn’t quite coping, as she finally confesses to ex-girlfriend Asha that she can’t stop blaming herself for what happened to Seb.
While Asha, Abi and Nina have been attempting to bring villain Corey to justice, the effects of the hate crime have sent ripples through the street.
And next Friday, Nina finally hits self-destruct.
Billy and Roy ask Nina to speak to Summer with some sage words of advice, as the other youngster has been struggling to sleep and eat after she had tagged along with the gang at the start of their evening.
Thankfully, Summer left before the attack took place, but she’s clearly still wracked with guilt, leaving her family worried.
Nina snaps at her regardless, pointing out the extent of her own loss, and leaving Summer feeling awful.
Nina pops into the corner shop and, while Dev is distracted, steals a bottle of vodka. In a misguided attempt to put things right with Summer, she suggests they all have a drink.
Clearly drunk, Nina cuts herself but refuses help – instead, she heads out alone, leaving Summer and Asha frantic.
