Alison Hammond sparks vaccine fury as she says 'let's just live with the virus'

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond sparked fury as she gave her opinion on coronavirus and the vaccine jab during the daily debate on Friday’s edition.

She and co-star Dermot O’Leary were speaking to Julia Hartley-Brewer and Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo about travelling abroad after the government’s changes to the green list.

Speaking to Julia, Alison said: “So yeah, we just need to live with it really as far as I’m concerned.

“Let’s live with the virus, right Julia?”

Viewers quickly took to social media to share their shock at Alison’s comments, as one said: “Let’s live with the virus, Alison. Until it kills a member of your family.

Alison sparked backlash with her comments about the vaccine

“Gallery, you need to intervene here. I was just sticking up for Alison, and then you broadcast that. Unbelievable.”

Another added: “Alison the ignoramus off again. Yeah let’s live with it Alison, you won’t even have a vaccine.”

A third said: “She has had no vaccines but says we should just live with the virus. Totally nuts.”

A fourth chipped in: “Yes Alison – you live with the virus but won’t get vaccinated.”

But one fan argued: “Couldn’t agree more with the debate on this morning.

“We need to learn to live with COVID and can’t spend our entire lives in a lockdown.”

This isn’t the first time Alison has shared her opinion on getting the vaccine, as she told a doctor on the show that she was worried about getting the jab.

She told them at the time: “I’m so worried about the vaccine myself because I really don’t want to get a blood clot.

“I’ve been talking about it the whole time, I don’t want to get a blood clot.

“I don’t want to die because I’m really enjoying this job and everything, it’s absolutely amazing.”

She also had an awkward clash with Celebrity Gogglebox star Gyles Brandreth on the show about getting the vaccine, as he assumed that she would want to have one.

As Alison admitted she was hesitant to get the vaccine, Gyles replied: “But you mustn’t.”

Alison quickly hit back: “I can be hesitant and that’s up to me to be hesitant.”

Gyles said: “It’s up to you to be hesitant, but don’t be hesitant, honestly don’t, all my friends have had it.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
