Corrie star Sam Robertson's love life – co-star 'fling' and dating a footballer

Coronation Street’s very own Casanova, Adam Barlow, has had affairs with a lot of ladies on the famous ITV cobbles.

He’s had romantic flings with Maria Connor, Rosie Webster, Eva Price, married Sarah Platt and even hooked up with his uncle’s partner Carla Connor.

But some viewers may not know that Sam Robertson, the man behind womaniser Adam Barlow, has also had a rather fruity love life off-screen too.

35-year-old Sam, who is a model as well as an actor, was only 18 when he joined Corrie in 2004, and his romantic endeavours have since caught the headlines on numerous occasions.

The Scottish star stayed on the soap for three years from 2004 to 2007 before returning to the famous cobbles after making an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

Rumours had circulated that Sam had a brief but exciting romance with his Corrie co-star Faye Brookes, who played Kate Connor, while she was on a two-week break from her Pop Idol singer ex-partner Gareth Gates.

Faye and Gareth reportedly split at the end of 2018 amid allegations of heated rows between the two.

Speaking about the alleged romance, a source told The Sun: “It was the talk of the Coronation Street set when Faye and Sam hooked up.

“Sam was a good friend and a shoulder to cry on. Before they realised it, one thing had led to another. But Faye was keen to make things work with Gareth and put a halt to things with Sam going any further.”

Although Faye did get back together with singer Gareth and the two got engaged in 2019, they split up again for good months later.

Neither Sam or Faye have ever confirmed if they had a romance.

Last year in September, Sam became linked to another famous face when he started dating former footballer and pundit Alex Scott.

The good-looking couple were seen drinking bubbles at London’s Dean Street Townhouse as they chatted, with one onlooker saying: “There was clearly a spark”.

However, the romance seemed to end there as Alex revealed things got off to a “bad start” when rumours began flying around in the press, and Alex admitted “I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates”.

Speaking about the date, she said: “My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely.”

She added: “The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo.

“It wasn’t exactly a great start!”

Sam might be still out there looking for the right person to settle down with, but his character Adam seems to be happy with Sarah Platt – or at least for now!

With major bumps along the road, it seems to remain unclear whether or not Adam will last.

Sam’s Corrie co-star Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah, has confessed the future could be rocky for the pair as Sarah still feels hurt after her man slept with Carla.

Discussing their on-screen relationship, 37-year-old Tina told Mirror: “I think she’s really happy that things worked out with her and Adam.

“I think she’s still quite insecure in regards to things that have happened. She’s got a little of seed of resentment there, that she’s not let go of, even though they were on a break, she’s not quite ready to let it go.”

The star continued with some hope for the couple: “But I think she seems really happy and I think she’s really happy in her career choice as well, she’s doing something that she loves and she really wants to make it work.”
