Piers Morgan mocks Dan Walker and teases he'll be joining him on BBC Breakfast

Piers Morgan has been trolling on Twitter again – and this time he’s launched another cheeky dig at BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker.

This comes after BBC presenter Louise Minchin announced she would be leaving the BBC Breakfast team after 20 years – in an emotional live segment where she choked up with co-star Dan on Tuesday.

Dan, 44, followed up Louise’s on-air announcement with a supportive tribute post about his colleague, having said that his life would be “poorer” without her on the BBC sofa.

However, former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 56, was quick to gatecrash Dan with his latest taunt to the BBC journalist.

This is not the first time Piers has trolled his presenting rival Dan, with Piers regularly mocking the early host from his ITV news desk during on-air segments as well as online – with the pair often trading blows on Twitter.

In his latest social media dig, Piers teased he’ll be taking Louise’s place on the BBC Breakfast sofa alongside Dan.

Sharing Dan’s heartfelt Twitter post to Louise on Tuesday (8 June), Piers took to ribbing him as he wrote: “Stop blubbing Dan – I start Monday.

“BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies.”

Piers had responded to Dan’s sweet post to his Breakfast co-star Louise, in which he joked her exit felt “like a break-up”.

Uploading a series of photos of the pair working together, he tweeted: “What am I going to do without Louise?

“Thank you for all the lovely messages after an emotional morning on #BBCBreakfast – I’m sure Louise will get to read them all later.

“My life will be poorer without her on the sofa.

“She’s the best.”

Teasing Dan again back in March, Piers was delighted to reveal his final GMB show had clipped BBC Breakfast in the ratings – saying “his work is done” after the win.

Piers has since dropped a bombshell claim when he said ITV bosses had reached out to him asking him to make an epic return to Good Morning Britain.

But as we all know, Piers loves to prank social media and has regularly teased at an explosive return, such as when he made an April Fools’ Day tweet saying he was heading back to the ITV studio.

Susanna Reid, his former co-host, had reacted saying he was back at his old trolling ways, saying: “April 1st just moved to June 8th…”

Earlier on Tuesday, Louise revealed she is going to be departing from her presenting job on the show, saying: “I have decided it is time I stopped setting my alarm for 3.40 in the morning.”

“This year, it will be 20 years since I first presented this programme. Since then I felt part of a huge BBC Breakfast family which includes everyone who works here, everyone on the team and every one of you who watches the programme. I’ve loved being part of it.”

“But. There is a but. You know about the but. I have decided that is time that I stopped setting my alarm for 3.40 – sometimes when I’m feeling really rebellious, 3.46 – in the morning, and I’m going to be leaving the programme.’

However, Louise did reassure fans that she won’t be leaving “for a while”.
