This Is England's Andrew Shim 'locked up in Malaga on drug trafficking charge'

This Is England actor Andrew Shim has been locked up in a Spanish prison on suspicion of drug trafficking, it has been reported.

The 37-year old star is being held on remand at Alhaurin de la Torre prison near Malaga which he entered on October 24 last year, according to The Mirror.

This comes after the actor was allegedly arrested by National Police in Marbella – which has become rife with drug crime – three days earlier for drug trafficking.

The Nottingham actor used to play Milky in Shane Meadows’ 2006 film This Is England and subsequent Channel 4 series.

He also starred alongside actors Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure – who both starred in BBC police show Line of Duty.

In one of the most famous scenes during This Is England, Shim’s character is brutally beaten up by Graham’s character, called Combo.

A source claimed: “If he has done what he’s accused of – what is he up to? He had everything and he’ll have just thrown it all away.”

A spokesperson for Spain’s National Police in Malaga commented: “We can confirm a 37-year-old man was arrested on October 21 last year for drugs trafficking.”

Spanish Prison Service insiders confirmed the same man was still being held in jail on remand after being sent there on orders of an investigating judge two days after his arrest.

However, last night, it was not clear if he had been formally charged.

Typically speaking, formal charges are usually laid in Spain shortly before trial takes place.

Once an investigating judge believes there is enough evidence to progress to a trial, prosecutors are invited to submit an indictment.

Although, this can take months, or even years to be completed.

Shim, who is also an MMA fighter, created a series of “Corona diaries” where he chatted with a bunch of famous friends.

In one of his pandemic video updates, Shim – who is also registered as a director of vehicle company Trackside Hire – spoke about how his business venture had been hit by the Coronavirus crisis.
