Where Full House stars are now – Heath Ledger bond, drug addiction and prison

Full House followed widowed father Danny Tanner who raises his three daughters in San Francisco along with his brother-in-law and best friend.

Running from September 22 1987 to May 23 1995 with eight seasons and 192 episodes – it became one of the most successful sitcoms on television alongside classics like Friends.

From 1988 onwards, the comedy bagged itself a consistent spot in the Nielsen Top 30 (America’s TV audience measurement system) and the show even went on to spawn a sequel series, Fuller House which aired as a Netflix Original on February 26, 2016 until 2 June 2020.

It also catapulted superstars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who took turns playing the role of young Michelle Tanner, into the heights of Hollywood fame as child actors.

As the beloved family sitcom said goodbye to our screens over 25 years ago last month, the Daily Star have decided to track down the cast too see where they went after the iconic show finished.

Bob Saget played widowed-father Danny whose wife Pam was killed in a car crash on the show.

After the show, stand-up comedian Saget has gone on to enjoy a highly successful career on the stage as well as the screen.

The 65-year-old bagged himself a Grammy Award nomination for his 2014 comedy special, That’s What I’m Talkin’ About.

Bob has also starred on Broadway shows such as musical The Drowsy Chaperone, but you may also recognise him as the voice of Ted Mosby on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother between 2005 to 2014 – which continues to run on Netflix and has a sequel coming out starring Hilary Duff.

An accomplished author too, his 2014 memoir “Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian” became a best-seller.

But he reprised his famous role of Danny Tanner in sequel Fuller House.

Bob married TV host Kelly Rizzo in 2018 after Bob popped the question whilst the couple were watching Stranger Things.

The pair invited some of Saget’s Full House co-stars to the Santa Monica ceremony in October.

Bob also has three children from his previous marriage to Sherri Kramer.

John Stamos played the Elvis-loving Uncle Jesse on the show, who was a talented musician with some seriously-handsome hair.

After leaving Full House, John has gone on to appear in a variety of famous shows – winning a nomination for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his time on ABC show General Hospital.

The 57-year-old star racked up credits in shows like Glee, ER, Scream Queens and even Netflix thriller series You – where he plays therapist Dr. Nicky.

Not just an actor and on-screen musician, John has actually played with The Beach Boys live on numerous occasions as a drummer as well as a guitarist – and other instruments too!

Stamos welcomed his first child, Billy, with wife Caitlin McHugh in April 2018 after the pair tied the knot in February 2019.

Dave played comedian Joey on the show – and his famous catchphrase was “cut it out”.

But Dave, 61, is a real-life comedian and impressionist too – having performed at clubs, theatres and other venues.

Dave’s provided voice work on TV shows like Teen Titans and Robot Chicken – and has guest-starred on shows like How I Met Your Mother and Dollface.

As well as coming back to reunite with his cast mates on Fuller House, he actually directed 6 episodes of the show, demonstrating his versatile skill-set as an entertainer.

Dave his been married to Melissa Bring – a producer and photographer – since 2014 and he has a son called Luc from his previous marriage to Jayne Modean.

Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner)

Candace played D.J. (Donna Jo) who later became a veterinarian on Fuller House.

After being shot to fame by her role on Full House, 45-year-old Candace guest-starred in Boy Meets World and Cybill before appearing in Disney Channel hit That’s So Raven.

However, aside from fictional roles, Candace has turned her talents to presenting and was a co-host of daytime television talk show The View between 2015 to 2016.

Aside from starring in the Aurora Teagarden novel series and appearing in Hallmark holiday movies like A Christmas Detour, she returned to reprise her role as D.J. in Fuller House.

She even competed on season 18 of Dancing with the Stars – finishing in third place.

Candace has been married to Valeri Buri for over 20 years and the couple share three children.

Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner)

Jodie played the most chatty and mischievous of the Tanners – middle child Stephanie.

The 39-year-old focused on independent films appearing in projects such as Port City and Redefining Love, as well as a web series – Can’t Get Arrested in 2011.

However, tragically Jodie started on a road of substance abuse from a young age when she began drinking alcohol at 14 and over the next 15 years used a variety of drugs including crack, ecstasy and methamphetamine.

She admitted she turned to drugs because she was “bored” – and in 2009 she opened up about her downward spiral of drug abuse that began with the ending of Full House.

However, inspiringly she has now become sober and is a public advocate for addiction and recovery whilst working as a clinical logistics coordinator at a Los Angeles drug rehab centre; she even earned a degree as a drug and alcohol counsellor.

Upon returning to Fuller House, in 2017 she starred as an exaggerated version of her iconic role in Hollywood Darlings – an improvised docu-comedy series.

Jodie also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2016 – making it to sixth place.

The Olsen twins shot to fame as child stars on Full House by playing the same role of Michelle – and after growing up on the show their success hasn’t ended there.

After Full House finished, the twins appeared in a string of movies and shows together which includes Two of a King, Holiday in the Sun, and So Little Time.

However, they’ve also enjoyed a winning careers as fashion designers with brands Elizabeth and James and The Row – and regularly appear at the annual Met Gala.

In 2018 at the CFDA Fashion Awards, the Olsens won the award for accessories designer of the year.

In their personal lives, Mary-Kate got married to Olivier Sarkozy in 2015 but the pair split in May 2020 and their divorce was finalised earlier this year.

Ashley has previously dated a financier called Richard Sachs but the couple reportedly broke up in March 2017 and she has been dating artist Louis Eisner since at least October of that year.

Fascinatingly, Mary-Kate was also a close friend of late actor Heath Ledger – and Ledger’s massage therapist actually called Mary-Kate before the cops after finding him unconscious in his bed in 2008.

56-year-old Lori played Aunt Becky (or Rebecca) from Nebraska on the sitcom.

Aside from reprising her role on Fuller House with her cast-mates, Loughlin has starred in series Summerland with Jesse McCartney and a young Zac Efron.

But she might be most recognisable as Debbie Wilson on the hit show 90210 from 2008 to 2012.

However, she’s also had a fair share of controversy and in 2020 she pled guilty with her husband to conspiracy to commit fraud in connection with the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal.

She was even fined and sentenced to two months in prison for the offence – after being accused of paying 4500,000 to guarantee their duaghters’ admissions into the University of Southern California.

Andrea played D.J’s best friend, Kimmy Gibbler – who lived next door to the Tanners and had a very obvious crush on Uncle Jesse.

After Full House ended, 44-year-old Andrea decided to quit acting to focus on other pursuits.

Impressively, Barber earned an English degree from Whittier College and did an internship stint and the United Nations in Switzerland.

Speaking out against her former profession, Andrea said she didn’t like the “unpredictability of the profession”, and she also wrote about her personal struggles with anxiety and depression in an essay for InStyle in 2017.

But fans were delighted when she returned to the acting world to reunite with her cast-mates for Fuller House.

Barber has two children – Tate and Felicity – with her ex-husband Jeremy Rytky.
