Time star Sean Bean's colourful love life – famous Corrie ex to four divorces

The smash his BBC drama Time surprised audiences with a frighteningly real look at prison as Stephen Graham and Sean Bean navigate the system to try and make it out safely, from both an inmate and guard perspective.

With close to 40 years of active work within the film, television and video game industry along with an eventful personal life of over five marriages and four divorces, Sean Bean’s career goes far beyond his run in Time.

Be it as 006 in the James Bond franchise film Goldeneye, the lead character of season one as Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, Boromir in Lord of the Rings or even Richard Sharpe in the long running series of tv movies Sharpe, Sean Bean has made a name for himself in a number of different famous roles and franchises across entertainment.

In 1981 Sean won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after performing at the Rotherham Civic Theatre while studying drama at Rotherham College.

In the same year he would marry his childhood sweetheart Debra James, with their marriage lasting seven years until their eventual divorce in 1988.

In 1993 Sean would secure his first acting role after graduating from RADA, performing as Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury.

He would continue to work in theatre productions as he secured smaller roles in film and television, appearing in shows like The Bill in 1984.

In 1990 Sean would marry actress Melanie Hill who he met while at RADA, most known for her performances as Maggie Budgen in Waterloo Road and current role of Cathy Matthews in ITV soap Corrie.

The pair had two children together, with the first being born in 1987 and the second in 1991, with the marriage eventually coming to an end in 1997.

Around the same time Sean’s acting career in Film and Television would begin to take off as he secured the role of 006 in Goldeneye and began his run as Richard Sharpe in Sharpe.

While on the set of Sharpe, Sean got close to actress Abigail Cruttenden, with the pair getting married in November of 1997, just three months after officially divorcing Melanie Hill.

Abigail has maintained a strong ongoing career through Film and Television, with current recurring role as Anna in Lee Mack’s Not Going Out.

Sean and Abigail remained together until July 2000 with the pair having a daughter in 1998.

In 2006, Sean began dating the actress Georgina Sutcliffe, who has maintained film roles throughout her career, with her last being in the 2020 A Christmas Carol.

Sean and Georgina were together until 2010, with the pair having a number of ups and downs, including the pair announcing they had cancelled their January 2008 wedding for “personal reasons”, before tying the knot the following month.

Sean’s career at this point had taken him through The Lord of The Rings franchise and made him a household name as he played Ned Stark in the first season of Game of Thrones in 2011.

Bean married current wife Ashley Moore in 2017, three years after their initial engagement.

The pair most recently made news for an argument they had on a plane ride following his shoot of season two of Snowpiercer that made people wonder if the relationship would be coming to an end but nothing came of it and they seem to be doing fine.
