Susanna Reid baffled as GMB guest fails to show after sleeping through interview

Susanna Reid revealed one celebrity guest missed their interview on Good Morning Britain last week because they slept through their alarm.

Jools Holland was supposed to appear with Jim Moir, formerly known as Vic Reeves, on the June 10 show to discuss the pair’s podcast, Jools and Jim’s Joyride.

However, when Jools failed to join the video call, Susanna and her co-host Ben Shephard were left feeling a little snubbed.

Thankfully, on Thursday, Susanna revealed Jools had simply slept through the interview, rather than deliberately swerving the GMB appearance.

Joined by her co-host Adil Ray on the show, Susanna was interested to hear how busy he had been working on his game show Lingo.

Pointing out Adil was likely exhausted, Susanna remarked: “I’m very glad that you woke up in time for the programme, because last week, Jools holland didn’t.”

Adil burst out laughing, and said, “I heard,” but Susanna pointed out Jools made a special effort to issue an apology to the GMB team.

She said: “But do you know what? He sent the nicest, most generous apology note saying how sorry he was.

“So of course, we’re having him back on this morning.”

“He knows what to do when he’s made a mistake!” Adil quipped.

Jools accepted another invitation to appear on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, and this time, he managed to wake up in time to chat with Susanna.

Jim had previously suggested Jools was “firmly in slumber” during the interview, piecing together the story behind his no-show.

During the awkward interview, presenter Ben took aim at Jools for “not bothering” to turn up for the Zoom call.

“Do you want to give him a quick text? Because we’ve got a Zoom invite for him if he wants to accept it,” Susanna said at the time.

“Get your phone out and text him and say ‘Jools we’re on air,'” Ben joked.

“I could do, but my phone’s nowhere near me,” said Jim, as Susanna replied: “Or we could just tell him on national television.”
