Meghan Markle will not be joining her husband Prince Harry to the UK for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue, it was told on GB News this morning.
Rebecca Hutson appeared on screen with her fellow breakfast hosts to discuss big news of the day, one of which being Meghan’s decision to not come to the event.
It was recognised that it could be due to Meghan wanting the unveiling to be about Harry and his mother, rather than headlines focusing on the Duchess of Sussex.
There has also been speculation that Meghan may not be travelling yet due to recently giving birth to her second child Lilibet.
When prompted by Rebecca for their thoughts, Nana Akua said that she agreed a lot of headlines would focus on Meghan, which she said she would find “irritating”.
Meanwhile Inaya Folarin Iman said that she believed Meghan was “damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t” in the situation.
Prince Harry is expected to join his brother William for the event which will take place on what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.
The unveiling comes just shy of a month after Meghan gave birth to her second child with Harry.
The pair have named their daughter Lilibet, a sweet nod to Queen Elizabeth, who is fondly referred to as Lilibet, often by the late Prince Philip.
In a statement announcing the birth of their second child, the pair said on their website: “On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.
“She is more than we could have ever imaged and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.
“She weighed 7lbs 11oz. Both mother and child are health and well, and settling in at home.”
