GMB fans slam Susanna Reid for 'rude' interview with Matt Hancock

Good Morning Britain viewers were up in arms after witnessing Tuesday’s interview with Home Secretary Matt Hancock.

Fans took particular aim at host Susanna Reid, 50, as they slammed her interviewing skills while claiming she had been “rude” and a “disgrace” for laughing and talking over the MP as he attempted to provide an answer.

One person fumed on Twitter: “@susannareid100 why are you so rude to the ministers you interview?

“Just who do you think you are? And if that wasn’t bad enough you cut across the answers and then you laugh as you go into the break afterwards – utter disgrace @GMB @Ofcom @MattHancock.”

Another added: “@GMB @susannareid100 @MattHancock @piersmorgan what a ridiculous interview without Piers holding politicians to account.

“Allowing Hancock to just squirm out of answers. Indian variant out off control I am paying £1250 week for my dads care. Shambles, please get back on the TV to get some answers.”

During the interview, Susanna interrupted the politician as he tried to speak about the Delta variant.

Before he had a chance to answer any questions, the TV star interjected: “I’m sorry Matt Hancock you weren’t cautious on India, we all saw the pictures.

“Professor Susan Hopkins has said ‘when there is evidence of an epidemic in another country obviously that is then going to be a problem over here’.

“The fact of the matter is even Kwasi Kwarteng said yesterday, the Business Secretary said that ‘you might have done things differently’.

Fans vented that Susanna was an “rude” during her interview with Mr Hancock

“We just acted too late with putting India on the red list and the accusation is that’s because we wanted a trade deal.”

Adil Ray also came under fire with viewers who “cringed” after he’d brought up “WhatsApp” messages that Boris Johnson had issued concerning the Home Secretary.

One person moaned: “@GMB Totally unnecessary Adil Ray to bring that text message up.

“Just cringe. Matt Hancock not my favourite person but really that was not fair.”

Towards the end of the discussion Adil asked: “How can you work for a boss who thinks you are totally useless?”

Susanna’s co-star Adil even came under fire for his own approach in the interview

He then added: “The whole world has seen the WhatsApp messages.”

Mr Hancock chirped back: “That was ancient history, that was a time of enormous challenge and frustration.”

Adil interjected: “Has he [Boris Johnson] apologised for the messages?”

The Health Secretary replied: “Unlike others I’m not going to go into those conversations.

“The Government is working really effectively at the moment.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV.
