Outrageous Love Island tattoos – Maura Higgins' bum ink to cover-ups after split

With Love Island finally making a much-awaited comeback on Monday 28 June, everyone has been loving reminiscing about past seasons and contestants.

Whilst some contestants prefer to keep the canvas clean, other islanders have stolen the show with some very big and show-stopping tattoos on their gym-honed bodies.

From Maura Higgins to her ex Chris Taylor, the Love Islanders over the years have shown them all.

Daily Star has had a look back at past contestants and their shocking tattoos – from matching tats before splitting to daring red lips on a bum cheek, the villa has seen it’s fair share of ink!

Maura Higgins’ bum tattoo

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that a red lip print is inked on Irish bombshell Maura Higgins’ bum.

A shock to most viewers when they clocked it on the bikini babe’s bottom, the red lip print caused a stir on social media as she ran through the gardens for the next group challenge.

As she entered the villa wearing a sexy hot pink high-waisted swimsuit, her ink was revealed to the nation.

The bright red pair of lips on her peachy bum cheek were hard to miss as the Irish beauty entered the villa, leaving viewers very hot under the collar.

Chris Taylor’s ‘offensive’ Native American tattoo

When Maura’s now-ex Chris entered the villa in 2018, his ink came under criticism.

A woman wearing a Native American headdress is inked on his chest next to an illustration of an owl.

Fans weren’t impressed and took to social media to slam the tat, with one tweeting: “Hmm is this the most racist tattoo I’ve ever seen on Chris Taylor? #LoveIsland.”

Not only was it dubbed offensive by fans, but some fans thought it looked like fellow contestant Maura Higgins – do you see the resemblance?

Laura Anderson’s dream catcher

As fans can see, Laura Anderson has quite a few large tattoos on her body.

Her dreamcatcher tattoo is intricately designed with feathered decoration and it neatly traces down the side of her thigh, stretching to the middle of her pert derriere.

The large inking is dubbed to keep away negative spirits, but it didn’t seem to help during her time in the villa, as she had a tumultuous split from Wes Nelson on the show.

Laura also has a Hamsa Hand, some sweet swallows and Lotus flower too, and never hesitates in showing it off.

Adam’s tribute to then-girlfriend, Zara

Zara and Adam coupled up in the villa and later split, but not before the two cemented their love with a little bit of ink.

Love Island hunk, Adam, got a ‘Z’ tattooed on his hand when the two left the villa.

The pair split not long after coupling up, and Adam was stuck with a meaningless ‘Z’ on his hand, which led to him rectifying it.

Wes Nelson, who was a contestant in the same season as Adam was with him when he went to the tattoo shop to get it fixed.

“What’s going on here Adam?” Nelson teased on Instagram.

Adam then showed off his newly inked hand which now read NIN – the ‘Z’ was now acting as an ‘N’.

When the pair split, Zara released an emotional Instagram statement that said:

“I am heartbroken to announce that Adam and I have parted ways,

“I love him very much and will always have a special place in my heart for him and our time spent together. I have tried so hard to be the best person I can possibly be and to make it work.”

Jack Fincham

Winner of the 2018 season, alongside then-girlfriend Dani Dyer, Jack Fincham shocked fans when they clocked his inked quote.

In a fancy font, Jack has the following quote: ‘In order to succeed your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure”.

Fans were reported to be speculating what it was, so the close-up shot was much anticipated by fans and viewers!

Darylle’s ram and snake

Covered in ink, tattooed beauty Darylle entered the villa in 2018.

Causing a stir on social media, the inked-up-babe received a lot of criticism and comment on her alternative look.

The girls who enter the villa don’t usually have more tats than blank spaces, which is why Darylle received a lot of attention.

With a ram on her stomach and a snake on her ribs, the inked beauty shocked a lot of viewers when she walked into the villa.

Rams symbolise strength and leadership, the star sign Aries and they also have possible satanic implications – so depending on which way you look at Darylle’s ram tattoo, it could definitely be perceived as shocking!

She also has a snake that wraps around her torso and ribs.

In the past, the tattooed babe has said: “My tattoos, they make me stand out significantly.”
