Singer Ronan Keating’s wife Storm has opened up about her post-operation journey, saying that she wouldn’t have been able to do it without her husband and his kids.
Storm, 39, who shares kids Cooper, four, and Coco, 14 months, with Ronan, was diagnosed with cauda equina syndrome, a rare type of spinal stenosis that leaves the nerves in the lower back severely compressed.
It could have led to paralysis without treatment but luckily, the operation to cure it appears to have been a success.
She told the Mirror: “You’ve got to give the nerves 12 months post-surgery. It’s a long time to wait but between now and then I’m on a rigorous programme that will ease up as I get stronger.

“My view definitely changed a lot since I had that scare. I’m still going through rehabilitation at the minute.
“I’m not 100% perfect, but I’m very guilty of never making time for myself. I don’t have a good balance.”
Storm also added: “But now I believe you can’t ignore your body. You’ve got to make time and look after yourself.”

Her rehab journey comes after she had rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after suffering a slipped disc.
She told OK! Magazine: “I had a steroid injection which I thought was working, but it was just masking the injury while it kept escalating. I was rushed to the hospital because I couldn’t move. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t breathe properly.”

Storm was then diagnosed with cauda equida syndrome, which then escalated her condition into a medical emergency, as she risked paralysis.
She added: “We had a very small window for them to operate and decompress the nerves otherwise you lose the use of your legs, bladder and bowels.”
Ronan and Storm have been married since 2015, and he was married to ex-wife Yvonne Connolly from 1998 to 2015, with whom he shares kids Jack and Missy with.
