Dan Walker was having none of Oti Mabuse’s cheeky quips on BBC Breakfast this morning – leaving the Strictly Come Dancing star in stitches.
The presenter, like every fan across the country, bore witness to one of the greatest nights of football ever yesterday evening.
A total of 14 goals were scored over Spain’s win against Croatia and Switzerland’s shock victory against favorites France.
But fans had to stay up until just before 11pm to watch the culmination of the latter match after it ended in penalties.
For Dan, who was on presenting duty for BBC Breakfast at 6am this morning, that meant slightly less sleep than usual.
And fellow presenter Oti could not help but joke about it.
As Dan and co-host Louise Minchin handed over to Morning Live – the show that follows Breakfast – the dancer joked: “Dan, I must say you’re looking a bit tired.
“Did you get enough sleep after the football last night?”
He quickly fired back: “Leave it Oti, leave it Oti, it’s an issue for everyone in the studio today.”
Dan is an avid sports fan and presented Football Focus for 11 years, until he stepped down earlier in 2021.
And he has previous history in staying up late to watch big events despite working the next day.
In March, he admitted he had stayed up later than expected to watch the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament in the US.

When he was called out on his late night the next day, he smirked before replying: “No comment.”
It comes after BBC Breakfast’s weather presenter Carol Kirkwood snapped at Wimbledon staff and insisted they “hurry up” during her live broadcast.
The staff were preparing to unveil Centre Court ahead of day one of the annual tennis tournament yesterday (June 28) and were standing behind her as she finished her weather report.
