As excitement for tonight’s episode of Love Island ramps up with fans clamouring to meet new boys Liam Reardon and Chuggs Wallis, let’s take a deeper look at who Chuggs is and what he’s hoping to get from the experience.
The 23 year old from Surrey, whose real name is Oliver Wallis, is the business owner of Booby Buckets, making customised bucket hats and raising money to support wildlife in the Galapagos Islands.
But while he’s got a business head on him, Chuggs insists it’s not a case of all work and no play.
Talking before entering the ITV villa, Chuggs said: “My parents would say I’m pretty responsible as I’m the oldest of three boys.
“I’ve always been the one that does everything first and the others follow. And then they get better than me, which isn’t fun. I’m pretty driven. In terms of being entrepreneurial I’ve always been like that.”
Chuggs chose to enter the show after missing out on the full university experience due to the pandemic.
He continued: “I just feel like it’s now or never. I’m only 23 but I’m scared of ageing.
“Especially as half of my last year of uni was taken away and we had so many fun plans.
“With Covid and the pandemic, I feel like I’ve missed a year of my youth, so I’m really gagging to get it all back – make the most of it.”
He has two younger brothers and expects himself to be the type of person people will come to for advice with good hosting skills from having parties at home and organising pub crawls.
“My mates would describe me as a solid mate. Everyone always comes to me for advice,” he added.
“I’m always the one organising things for everyone too. I put together the funnest nights out that we’ve had, hosting parties at home, pub crawls.”
Of the guys already in there he’s expecting some competition from Brad McClelland, saying: “I think key competition is Brad, but I also think I’ll get on with him. That Jake guy seems pretty funny, he looks jokes.”
With an eye for Liberty, Chloe and Faye the lad is looking for a best friend in his future partner, referencing his friends girlfriend as an example.
He said: “I need someone to be my best mate. I need someone who is going to muck in with my brothers, my family. I’ve got a mate who has a girlfriend, she plays rugby, golf.. everything with us. She’s great, she gets involved. I want something like that.”
Chuggs will be entering the villa tonight with Liam Reardon to stir things up with the group.
