Coronation Street star Harry Visinoni makes cobbles return after Seb's murder

Coronation Street actor Harry Visinoni is set to make a surprise return to the ITV soap, weeks after his character Seb Franklin was brutally murdered by a gang of thugs.

Seb and goth girlfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) were attacked because of the way they dressed, with him tragically dying from his injuries.

However soap star Harry has been pictured filming new scenes with Mollie on location, for what is expected to be more beefed-out flashback scenes.

Originally, viewers only saw flashes of the attack on-screen, and it was filmed in accordance with social distancing rules, meaning it was difficult to fully capture.

But with Harry back to film the harrowing scenes fully, viewers will get a clearer picture of exactly what went on – no matter how difficult it may be to watch.

Viewers are yet to discover exactly who killed Seb, as both Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) are on trial for his murder.

“Harry’s return means the soap can explore the attack fully as the trial approaches,” a source told The Sun.

“With Corey and Kelly both on trial for Seb’s murder – it hasn’t been clear who was ultimately responsible for Seb’s murder.

“Viewers will finally learn the truth about who struck the killer blow.”

The source added: “It’s been filmed safely but fully and will be used in flashback scenes later in the year.”

The murder trial will more than likely prove to be a difficult watch too, as Corrie boss Iain MacLeod previously explained it will draw in “class and background and privilege”.

He told press: “It becomes partly about class going forward.

“I mean, I can’t say too much about that but in terms of how the criminal investigation unfolds it becomes about class and background and privilege.

“There are interesting elements that we draw into the story as it unfolds.”

The attack was loosely based on the real life murder of Sophie Lancaster, who died aged 20 in 2007 after a gang of teenagers attacked her and her boyfriend for the way they were dressed.

Soap boss Iain went on: “At its core we wanted it to be a story about showing horrific intolerance that can face people purely on the basis of what they look like, or what music they might listen to or what subculture they might identify with and that is the core of the story until the finish line.

“It is a story about intolerance and the reaction to that of all of the protagonists is the texture of the story and the substance of the plot going forward.”

Harry bid an emotional farewell to Coronation Street in May, after being on the soap for almost five years.

His character Seb had a number of hard-hitting storylines, including being tested positive for HIV, a custody battle for his young siblings and being involved in the human trafficking plot in 2019.

The actor took to social media following his on-screen exit and said: “I couldn’t have dreamt of a better way to spend these years of my life. Thank you so much for all the support Seb has received throughout his turbulent time on the street, and thank you so much for the amazing response to this immensely important and relevant storyline.”
