Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen has finally explained why she feels the need to never take off her trademark set of ‘manky’ bangles.
The 46-year-old farming beauty has worn the accessories since her teenage years and has no plans of taking them off any time soon.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 4, Amanda explained that they were given to her during her first job at a takeaway.
Though this may be a strange thought to the TV shows fans as most will struggle to picture her doing anything bar working on a farm, as she’s a complete natural to all things nature.
Some super-fans may know that prior to starting her farming career Amanda had a brief modelling stint, but less will be aware that she also once worked at a Bangladeshi takeaway.
This is where Amanda was given the bracelets, by a young girl who was related to the family that worked with her at the food establishment.
The young girl gifted them to her after their pair formed a unique friendship after Amanda spent time teaching her English.
Amanda told BBC Radio 4: “It’s a link to my femininity whilst working on the farm.
“They do break, they’re only wire and yes, they’re bent and manky and my arm is all discoloured underneath but they’re sentimental to me.”
Amanda also mentioned how her fans often worry about the accessories getting caught on farm machinery.
She continued to laugh the comments off and said: “If they were going to, they would have done by now!”
Simon Armitage, Host of The Poet Laureate Has Gone To His Shed, joked with her, and responded: “Unless you began with three arms!”
Amanda also comically added that her nine children now use the bangle’s jingling noise as an “early warning system” when climbs the farmhouse’s stairs.
She added: “They hear me coming and rush to put away or clean or throw out the window whatever they were doing!”
