Bridgerton series two filming has come to a halt after positive Covid-19 test

Filming for the second series of Netflix’sBridgerton has been paused while bosses figure out when it will be safe for the team to return to work after a crew member tested positive for Covid-19.

Production on the popular drama series has reportedly come to an immediate pause while all the cast and crew are being tested and bosses determine when they can return to set.

Anyone who came into contact with the person who has Covid-19 has now gone into isolation.

As bosses are unsure when to return to work safely, it has also raised concerns regarding the filming of Netflix’s The Crown.

A source told The Sun that both The Crown and Bridgerton are big hits for Netflix and both require an extremely large cast and crew, calling it a “logistical nightmare” for trying to keep people safe.

They said: “Netflix have gone to great lengths to ensure all the relevant measures are in place on Bridgerton, but this just goes to show how difficult it is for such a large set to be completely Covid-secure.”

Season two of Bridgerton was announced in January 2021 with a fitting confirmation, with Lady Whistledown herself writing: “The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season.

“I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.”

Production resumed in spring this year, but it’s unclear when the new series will return following its Christmas 2020 debut.

Regé-Jean Page, who plays Simon Basset, will not be returning to the series, though Phoebe Dynevor who plays Daphne will return to her role as a supporting member of the show.

The next series will focus on Anthony Bridgerton and his potential bride, Kate Sharma, as they navigate their way through their romantic life.

After its launch, Bridgerton made Netflix history after amassing 82million viewers on the streaming platform, making it Netflix’s biggest series and pushing down the previous record holder, The Witcher, with 76million viewers in its first 28 days, to second spot.

The roaring success saw Bridgerton also gain the approval for a season three and four shortly after its first season was aired.
