Supermarket Sweep facing axe two years after series reboot with Rylan Clark-Neal

Aisle be damned – Supermarket Sweep is facing the axe.

ITV is not yet committing to another series and there are fears they might ditch it for good.

An insider revealed: “Supermarket Sweep is such an iconic and well-loved format. But no show is safe in the current climate. Its future is hanging in the balance and it’s not looking good. A final decision is expected in the next few months.”

The show was revived in 2019 on ITV2 with Rylan Clark-Neal replacing the late Dale Winton as its host. It proved such a hit it was then moved to flagship channel ITV for another run last year.

But it failed to deliver the viewing figures bosses were hoping for.

Our insider added: “It wasn’t the success everyone hoped it would be.

“If a show isn’t bringing in big enough ratings, it is instantly at risk of being axed.

” The show’s uncertain future is another setback for Rylan. In recent months he has taken a step back from the spotlight after his marriage to husband Dan hit the rocks.

In a statement, he said: “I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.”

He continued: “I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time.”

Ex-Big Brother star Dan, 41, is understood to have moved out of the Essex home he rented with Rylan.

Furthermore, friends of the couple have reportedly revealed that they are not surprised by the recent break-up, as they were aware that the couple both wanted different things from the relationship.

It’s reported that Dan was more focused on his television career and was looking to find fame once again.

Insiders revealed that the former Big Brother contestant had several showreels created to help potentially catapult his career.

Despite his best efforts, Dan never gained much television work outside of stints alongside Rylan.

The former policeman also hoped that after he hosted ITV’s This Morning alongside Rylan in 2017 his presenting career would flourish, but it unfortunately failed to do so.
