Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury warned off skinny shamers wanting to attack her on Instagram with her latest bikini snap.
The 50-year-old stripped off to bask on the sunshine during the heatwave this week and went to the beach to sunbathe and relax.
In her latest Instagram post she is seen lying on the sand waring a halter neck swimsuit with a floral embellishment and accessorising with a pair of aviator sunglasses.
Captioning the stunning snap, she wrote: “Hey Skinny shamers (sic) … Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine. My collar bones are still sticking out…& I ate chips!”, as well as the hashtags “#skinnyshaming #sunshine #nohate”.
Julia was immediately inundated with praise and supportive messages from her legion of followers in the comments section.
“A picture of positive and healthy life choices. Enjoy the sunshine,” said one fan.
Another wrote: “Ignoring these people is so much easier said than done. You’re a strong person and I’m sure an inspiration to other with your attitude and outlook on life.”
“They are just jealous Julia, they wish they could eat chips and look like you,” commented a third.
Julia was overwhelmed by the compliments and support she received and followed the post up with another of herself wearing navy workout gear.
She captioned the snap: “Lots of positive feedback from my skinny shaming posts…so many people grateful that I’ve spoken out about how unacceptable it is to shame people online/via social media.
“I’m old enough & experienced enough to handle this stuff but millions of people are suffering with #mentalhealth issues & eating disorders. We need to exercise kindness on here. I’m happy that I’ve been able to turn a negative into a positive. I just want to say.. you’re all beautiful.”
“Don’t let small minded people get you down, and feel fine about exploiting social media – take all the good and none of the negative!”
The presenter also included a quote from actor Deep Roy that said: “Inspiration comes from within yourself. You have to be positive. When you’re positive, good things happen.”
Julia has been vocal about promoting body confidence in women over 50 and recently spoke about the trolling she’s received from people calling her ill, on Lorraine.
“Here’s the problem, I‘ve got skinny collarbones and I can’t do anything about that,’ Julia said.
She continued: “I’m fairly confident and I can deal with it, you can deal with it we’ve been around for a long time Lorraine, we know how to deal with these things.”
“But there a lot of people out there with mental health issues, with body issues and the fact is there can be one comment that can get somebody the wrong way.
“All of this stuff, that just isn’t constructive criticism that’s just being purely nasty and unfortunately, social media is a breeding ground for that.
“So I’m here to say stop the trolling and think about what your comments actually mean to people.”
