TV star Martin Roberts in hospital dash as condition causes feet to swell up

Martin Roberts had to dash to hospital after his cellulitis “flared up again” and “spread to his other leg”.

The 58-year-old BBC Homes Under The Hammer host shared a photo of his swollen foot on Twitter after he attempted to purchase antibiotics, before being turned away by his local chemist.

Martin took to Twitter to type: “Bl**dy cellulitis has flared up again and it’s spread to my other leg too.

“The chemists wouldn’t give me the antibiotics I’d been prescribed, despite seeing my leg, due to a ‘system error’ and no recognition of how serious this is.

“Thank you so much @LloydsPharmacy so A&E for me,” he sarcastically said.

Martin Roberts took to Twitter over the weekend, to say: “Bl**dy cellulitis has flared up again and it’s spread to my other leg too,”

Fans flocked to the comments to send well wishes to the host, with some even sharing their experiences and advice.

One fan said: “I hope it gets better soon! My feet ankles and legs went like that in September last year. I couldn’t get my pants or shoes on. I had no idea what was causing it until I ended up at Stepping Hill hospital with heart failure! That’s what was causing it!”

Martin swiftly replied with: “Ahh. Heart failure. Now that would be a great end to the night.”

Another fan said: “I sympathise sir. I too suffer with cellulitis and it’s something that needs rapid treatment and it’s disappointing you had issues getting the medication. Get well soon.”

A third urged him to get to A&E as soon as possible, writing: “Martin please get yourself down to A&E. Cellulitis can be very serious. Nine years ago my husband was in hospital for a week with cellulitis in his arm and had to have an operation to remove the infection from an area near to the bone. Please see someone.”

Martin got himself down to his local hospital in Poole, Dorset and shared live updates with his 27,000 followers.

Martin received IV antibiotics at hospital last night

He told his followers how he needed a blood test and then was put on IV antibiotics as his condition had worsened.

Eight hours ago he shared a photo of his foot to update his followers, writing alongside it: “But I think I did the right thing coming in! Hopefully the IV antibiotics will kick in soon”

He then shared another video with his followers, updating them all that he grabbed a McDonald’s on the way home from the hospital at 4am.

“Just to round of tonight’s little adventure, it’s 4’o’clock in the morning and I’ve just been released.”

He explained how he had to have antibiotics through an IV drip, as well as getting prescribed some “mega” antibiotics to take home with him.

Fans were relieved, with one typing: “So glad you’re ok, you did right thing going to the hospital. Remember eating a McDonald’s at 1.30 in the morning a couple of years ago after an Ed Sheeran concert….it was heaven!!!”

A second penned: “So glad you are out of there. You did the correct thing going to A&E. Take care xx”
