Cliff Richard has sent a kind message to hero Gerard Morrison, a 72-year-old man who saved a woman’s life after she was attacked by a knife-wielding thug.
Lynn Roberston survived the attack and is slowly making her way through recovery – after being stabbed in the arm and the stomach.
But if it wasn’t for Gerard stepping in, then the tale could have had a more gruesome end, as he was able to distract the criminal during the assault.
Gerard was given a Pride of Scotland award for his Outstanding Bravery in Port Glasgow, following his noble move which inevitably saved the woman’s life.

To help thank Gerard for her bravery, Cliff Richard took part in congratulating him on his efforts, and his taste in music.
When receiving the Outstanding Bravery award at the Pride of Scotland, the famous singer made a surprise appearance via video link.
The Devil Women singer said: “Hi there Gerard, I am honoured and privileged to say congratulations Gerard for winning the Pride of Scotland award.

“It was for bravery. Now, I read the story, you were very brave.
“I don’t think I could have confronted anybody armed.”
In September 2019, the elderly man was waiting inside a housing association office in Greenock, in Scotland, when one of the men waiting alongside him in the queue suddenly got up and approached the counter.
This was where staff member Lynn was helping customers and so he then walked behind the counter and without warning, stabbed the 45-year-old mother in the stomach and arm with a serrated steak knife.

Gerard immediately jumped up and used his adrenaline to rush to Lynn’s aid, picking up a chair to strike the attacker.
His quick-thinking actions then allowed Lynn to escape into another office via the back door.
Gerard then continued to chuck the chair and the attacker, after seeing that Lynn was able to make a break for it.
Following the attack, the attacker was arrested and was jailed for life in 2020 for attempted murder.
Lynn was able to stabilise her bleeding but sustained a deep wound to one arm and another to her torso which penetrated her liver.
She had to undergo an operation in order to try and fix the issue and has since made a slow physical recovery but has been left permanently traumatised by the attack.
