Emmerdale Chelsea Halfpenny's soap ties with co-star engagement and Enders aunt

Emmerdale actress Chelsea Halfpenny is engaged to somebody who has ties to Only Fools and Horses legend David Jason. She also has ties to EastEnders!

The Emmerdale star who shot to fame in the soap after playing the role of Geordie lass Amy Wyatt recently posted an Instagram snap of her and fiancé James Baxter announcing their engagement.

The 29-year-old actress took to Instagram to post a loved-up snap of the happy couple – both seemed overjoyed to be announcing their engagement.

In the caption for the snap of the loved up couple, Chelsea penned: “He liked it so he went and put a friggin ring on it!!!!!!!!

“Obv changed his name to ‘FIANCÈ’ immediately on my phone. Also congrats to my 14-year-old self on managing to get the boy with the spikey hair that she fancied so much.”

In a funny coincidence the pair both appeared on Emmerdale at separate times.

James played the role of Jake Donald in Emmerdale between 2007 and 2009, while Chelsea played Amy between 2010 and 2013 – just missing each other by one year!

Chelsea’s fiancé has acted alongside the east end legend Del Boy Trotter! James appeared in Still Open All Hours on the BBC as Leroy from 2013 to 2019 for their Christmas special episodes.

That’s not Chelsea’s only tie to soap stardom though!

The Emmerdale star’s sister is Jill Halfpenny headed up north in the 90s to play the role of Rebecca Hopkins on Coronation Street until 2000.

Heading down south, she then appeared on EastEnders as Kate Mitchell, and added herself to the long list of Phil Mitchell’s past wives. Jill played the role of Kate for three years.

Chelsea is most known for her role in Emmerdale, but following in her sister’s footsteps, she hopped on over to the BBC in 2015 to join the cast of Casualty in the role of Alicia Munroe.

The Geordie lass played a Year 1 foundation officer doctor in the popular A&E drama.

She initially signed up for eight episodes and left in November 2015 but she returned in July 2016 and remained as a regular on the show until January 2019.

In 2019 it was announced that she would be taking over the role of Judy in 9 to 5: The Musical, as part of the West End theatre production.
