Casualty star Charles Dale was a faced with a freak accident in real life when he found a naked couple trapped under a wardrobe in his hotel room.
The actor, who played MacKenzie “Big Mac” Chalker in the BBC medical drama for nine years, found himself caught up in a 999 crisis after walking in on the randy duo who had accidentally been given the key to his room.
Charles, 58, who also played cabbie Dennis Skinner in Coronation Street, tried to sneak out discreetly without disturbing them.
But as he closed the door he heard a “huge crash” followed by a “scream”.

When he went back in to check if they were all right he found the wardrobe had fallen on top of them pinning them to the bed.
The actor lifted the wardrobe off the pair then coolly walked out to spare them further embarrassment.
Charles said the bizarre incident happened on a visit to Cork in south-west Ireland.
He tweeted: “Went into my hotel room in Cork to discover a couple having sex, so made a hasty retreat.

“There was a huge crash+a scream.
“Against my better judgement went back in to see if they where alright.
“The wardrobe had fallen on them and they were stuck.
“I lifted it off them and left.'”
One fan replied: “Sure you wasn’t (sic) in a Carry On film… ooh err matron.”
“Always the gentleman,” added another posting an emoji wearing dark glasses.
Charles’ character in Casualty was a hospital porter who worked his way up to medical life-saver.
Even his Corrie character tried to help out in emergencies.
After Dennis had an affair with Janice Battersby, played by Vicky Entwistle, 52, her husband Les – actor Bruce Jones, 68 – tried to gas himself in his car.
Dennis saved his love rival’s life but crashed his car taking him to hospital and died.
