Star Trek fans still think Marina Sirtis is out of this world.
It has been 34 years since she first played Deanna Troi in the sci-fi franchise – but the British actress certainly hasn’t run out of admirers.
Many of them love sending her flirty messages and some even want to boldly go… into her knicker drawer!
Marina, 66, said: “People ask me if I get any unusual fan mail. The easier question would be to ask if I get any fan mail that isn’t unusual.
“I get everything. There are even marriage proposals.
“Then there are people asking if I can send them underwear. I don’t send any, I hasten to add.
“My husband had an idea that I should start doing it and make a fortune. I could still do that. But it would be a little bit tacky.”
Some fans go even further to show how much they love the actress.
She added: “Somebody came to a ComicCon event and showed me a tattoo of my character that took up their whole back. I said, ‘Blimey! I hope you don’t go off me’.”
While Marina is baffled by some of the crazy things her fans do, she loves every second of it. She said: “What’s wrong with being loved? There’s no downside.
“The fans are the reason I’ve been so blessed for over 34 years. They have supported me for all that time.
“They make it possible for me to still work. I’m a middle-aged actress, so I’m not exactly getting scripts chucked at me. But my fans and the people who love me keep me working.
“It’s fantastic. I have got nothing but gratitude for them.”
Marina got her break in 1986 after heading out to Los Angeles. To this day, she is amazed at how well it went.
She said: “I was the poster child of what isn’t supposed to happen when an English actress goes to Hollywood.
“I went out there and I got a job in five days.”

Within weeks she was cast as Deanna and started filming Star Trek: The Next Generation alongside Patrick Stewart and Whoopi Goldberg.
Looking back on the show’s heyday, Marina said: “I never saw daylight. I’d be in the studio at 5am and wouldn’t come home until it was dark.
“But it was the best time ever. And those guys are still my best friends, even though I’ve left them all behind. It was the best job I ever had, never to be repeated I’m sure,” added Marina, who starred on all seven series of the show between 1987 and 1994.
The Hackney-born star then appeared in four Star Trek films as well as four spin-off series – including the most recent incarnation, titled Picard.
That means she is still recognised wherever she goes. Last week she caused a stir when she attended the opening night of show Wonderville in the West End of London.
She said: “Star Trek is shown in every country in the world, so wherever I go, I get a big reception. It’s bloody awesome.”
Marina is still on the hunt for new roles to get her teeth into.
In the meantime, she’s loving being back on home soil. She said: “I’m now living in the UK for the first time in 35 years.
“Let’s just say, I haven’t missed LA for a second. I’m really happy to be home.
“I’ve been offered a movie that is going to be made in the UK. But I’m also enjoying us being out of lockdown.”
