Coronation Street’s Alina Pop hasn’t been having the easiest pregnancy so far, having been embroiled in a cheating scandal with boyfriend Tyrone Dobbs.
On Monday, Alina was sleeping in the flat when the smoke detector began to beep – leading to her being taken away in an ambulance and fearing for her unborn baby boy.
Next week, Tyrone tells his suspicious gran Evelyn that Fiz and Hope have headed out of Weatherfield to stay with Cilla.
Fiz informs him that they’re actually staying at a B&B in Manchester, but she has no real plan to get them out of the mess they’re in.
Having retrieved his flat keys from Hope, Tyrone returns them to Alina and pretends he just found them in a jacket pocket, as he tries to clear his ex’s name for the incident.
Alina informs Tyrone that even if the located keys let Fiz off the hook, it only means that somebody else started the fire with the intention of killing them both.
Alina lets copper Craig know about the people in the trafficking case she was involved in – frantic that one of the gang set fire to her flat in a desperate bid for revenge.
Tyrone calls Fiz and explains that Alina is living in constant fear, so it might be best if they move into No9 with Evelyn.
Fiz quickly warns that Evelyn might take some convincing, but as Tyrone and Alina move their things in, the disapproving soap stalwart warns they could be putting even more lives in danger – even Ty’s daughter Ruby’s.
Alina, meanwhile, heads out to confront Rachel – the boss at the nail salon she worked at, and one of the brains between the human trafficking operation that got Alina into the country.
Alina blames Rachel for starting the fire, though the other woman insists she’s innocent, leaving Alina wondering who on earth could be responsible for the arson.
Evelyn has her own suspicions, and Tyrone steadfastly refuses to meet her gaze.
As Eveyln and Alina quiz Ty about Fiz, he’s clearly regretting going along with her plan. Evelyn eventually confesses she has called Cilla and knows Fiz isn’t there, forcing Tyrone to crumble.
He admits everything to his nan, and when Alina hears from Chesney that Cilla is on holiday in Cornwall, she realises there are holes in Tyrone’s story.
When she sees Evelyn and Tyrone let Fiz and Hope into the house, she makes a decision.
Later, a tearful Fiz is helped into the police car, as Alina approaches Tyrone and reveals that she called the cops, after discovering Fiz had been lying all along about her whereabouts.
Evelyn quizzes Hope about the fire and is deeply troubled by her lack of remorse.
Meanwhile, Tyrone catches up to Alina in Victoria Gardens and reveals the terrible truth – that it was his daughter Hope who started the fire – leaving his girlfriend completely dumbstruck.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
