Award-winning actress Jodie Comer has reportedly been left shaken after a French stalker threatened to kill her online.
The Killing Eve star, 28, was targeted by a crazed fan who had sent her terrifying messages on social media back in June, according to reports.
It is believed that the stalker had not only threatened Jodie but also contacted her family members through their personal email accounts before the suspected stalker was arrested.
After the star informed the French authorities, a 44 year old man was arrested at his home in Northern France where he is currently being held in custody.
According to The Sun, the blonde bombshell, who plays the role of a psychotic assassin on the show, received one message which warned: “I am coming to England to create carnage.”
The publication reports that Jodie was subjected to a number of terrifying messages via her Instagram account in addition to the messages he reportedly sent to her close family members.
The suspected assailant was tracked down by experts online which led armed officers to his home in the French city of Roubiax where his property was raided at dawn.
The investigation was opened in Lille and the star has been kept informed of the developments in the case after she increased her personal security.
A French source in Roubaix told the media outlet: “We were contacted by British police on June 30 and asked to make inquiries. A local man aged 44 was arrested as a result.
“The investigation is still ongoing but involves threats and harassment made via social media to the British actress Jodie Comer.”
The Daily Star has reached out to Jodie Comer’s representatives for a comment.
This comes after the Liverpudlian took a step back from social media for six weeks following the investigation both in the UK and overseas.
The star, who usually updates her 1.8 million fans about her life and career online, remained silent from June 7 to July 20 which led some loyal fans to raise concerns over her inactivity.
But Jodie made her return to social media at the beginning of the week to wish good luck to her fellow Liverpudlian Katarina Johnson-Thompson ahead of her Olympic heptathlon at the Tokyo Olympics.
She sent a touching message to the athlete on her Instagram stories in which she shared a sweet snap of the sporting star with the caption “our girl” alongside a blue love heart emoji.
The Emmy award-winning actress has since increased the security on all her social media profiles and has limited who can comment on her posts online.
