Katie Hopkins says officials 'led campaign of harassment' to kick her out of Australia

Katie Hopkins continues to deny that she broke hotel quarantine rules in Sydney and has accused officials of a ‘campaign of harassment’.

The controversial media personality was forced to leave Australia and handed a $1000 (£530) fine, after a video she posted online went viral.

During the clip, while quarantining in a government-mandated hotel, she reportedly said she’d been “lying in wait” to answer the door naked to hotel staff without a face mask to “fright the s**t out of people”.

The star was paid by Big Brother VIP and flown down under to take part, along with a payout of AUS $200k (£106k).

However, after the video went viral, Seven Network and Endemol Australia confirmed she was not part of the show.

In a new live video, Hopkins claims officials “were looking for some way of getting rid” of her, in a live video she posted on Friday.

The 46-year-old denied again that she went against any of the quarantine regulations set in palce.

She said “no one in Australia has anything else to talk about than me being naked, which I wasn’t”, and accused officials of initiating “this kind of campaign of harassment.”

She continued: “All of a sudden, having done nothing at all to break any rules whatsoever, I had calls in the middle of the night telling me I had an ‘incident of repeatedly opening my door’.”

The former Apprentice star alleged there “wasn’t a valid reason” for being deported.

Katie said: “I didn’t repeatedly open my door, I wouldn’t, I know the rules, I wouldn’t break them.

“So that’s when it started, and then I knew they were looking for something, looking for some way of getting rid of me and getting the problem to go away.”

Hopkins said she was “harassed” by calls from officials throughout the night and had a visit from men “in full PCR blue hospital plastic” with masks, visors, and bodycams.

Katie said police went off to ‘find’ things they could charge her before issuing a fine for leaning out into a hotel corridor without wearing a mask on July 16.

In the video, she said the reason she was deported was due to an “unproven” allegation she leaned into the empty hotel corridor without a mask.

The Daily Star has approached the Australian Department of Home Affairs and the NSW Police Force for comment.
