Whitney Houston was not only one of the music world’s legendary performers, as she also won legions of fans with her beauty.
However, years of substance abuse wreaked havoc on the singer’s looks, and by the time she passed away in 2012, her body was transformed by scars and injuries, her autopsy revealed.
The coroner revealed that her nose had also rotted and had a hole in it, likely due to her cocaine addiction, and she was also suffering from heart problems, with the expert diagnosing that one of her arteries was 60 percent blocked.
The tragic star’s autopsy report made for devastating reading as details were revealed about the singer, who would have turned 58 on August 9.
A cocktail of nine drugs were discovered in her body when she was found face-down in the bathtub at the Beverly Hilton on February 11, 2012.
She’d arrived in town earlier that week ahead of the Grammys and just the night before was spotted behaving erratically and looking dishevelled in mismatched clothes.
On the day of her death, she’d complained of a sore throat and said she wanted to take a bath before Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party.
But when her assistant returned from running errands at 3:35pm, she discovered the star’s lifeless body lying in about 13 inches of scalding hot water.
Six hours after her death the temperature was still 33°C, and insiders said it could have been as hot as 66°C when she died, as evidenced by swathes of skin that had been burned off her back.
A needle mark was discovered on her inner left elbow along with scars from breast implants and “the outlines of bilateral breast prosthesis.”
And the mother-of-one was also found to have had a wig sewn on to her existing hair.
Although her eyebrows were described as ‘sparse’, beneath the headpiece which was “tightly attached,” Whitney was bizarrely hiding a full head of black, wavy hair with ‘no balding’.
Her teeth, however, were in a dire state.
According to the report, Whitney had 11 of her front teeth missing and was wearing a ‘maxillary dental prosthesis’.
And Tina Brown, the sister of Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, claimed they fell out during crack cocaine binges that would last for days.
“She loses them in the house and when she’s out on drug binges,” she said in 2006, revealing Whitney would constantly have to order replacements.
“They cost $6000 and the dentist has to keep FedEx’ing her a new set,” she added.
The report also found that her “eyes were congested and there was a bloody purge coming from her nose”, and her nose had rotted away, leaving a hole in the cartilage.
Whitney’s official cause of death was given as accidental drowning contributed to by heart disease and cocaine use.
