Eamonn Holmes managed to rub up This Morning fans the wrong way during Thursday’s edition of the ITV daytime show.
The 61-year-old Irish broadcaster was back on presenting duty alongside Ruth Langsford while Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby enjoy the summer holidays.
As the husband and wife duo went over the schedule, they welcomed Dr Zoe Williams onto the show, saying that she will be delving into the latest health headlines on the show later on.
After Dr Zoe, 41, appeared on screen via video chat, saying that she will be talking about “how your health can be benefited from gardening and even alpacas”, Eamonn remarked: “Your hair reminds me of an alpaca today.”
“You just want to pet it, don’t you? It’s very alpaca-ish” he added, gesturing with a petting motion as Dr Zoe laughed.
‘Don’t touch my hair!’ the doctor exclaimed, pointing her pen at the camera.
Several ITV viewers rushed to their keyboards to express their shock over Eamonn’s remark.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Most awkward thing I’ve seen in a long time.”
Another added: “Did that really just come out of Eamonn’s mouth?”
“@thismorning did @EamonnHolmes just compare the doctors Afro to an alpaca?,” a third person wrote.
Daily Star has reached out to a representative for This Morning for a comment.
Eamonn’s comments come just 24 hours after he branded a viewer as “perverted” during a toast debate.
He and wife Ruth got to try out the new Mars chocolate bar spread and asked viewers for their favourite topping.
One fan wrote in to tell the pair that they liked “brown sauce and strawberry jam on toast”.
A horrified Eamonn said he could only describe the choice as “perverted”.
He said: “Oh no! That’s perverted. There’s no other word for that. Brown sauce and strawberry jam? Sicko.”
Eamonn caught fans off guard earlier this week by announcing that he was joining TikTok.
In a brilliant video uploaded to Instagram, the star said: “Hello there, it’s Eamonn Holmes the famous Irish broadcaster here.
“Lovely to see you. Now we’re going to get even closer, because I have joined TikTok. I’m not sure what TikTok is, but apparently we’re going to have some great craic on it.”
He added: “If you put the… hashtag? Hashtag? #AskEamonn I will do my best, within realms, to answer the question that you put forward.
“So let’s have some fun. Let’s be interesting. Let’s not be abusive. Let’s do it!”
He then finished the video in an entertaining way, as he struggled to get TikTok’s name right, in several instances referring to the platform as “TokTik”.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
