When not appearing on the telly, Mary works as a fashion model for the likes of ASOS, JD Women, Boohoo and Miss Empire.

She said in the video posted on her YouTube channel: “I was on a school trip. I was on textiles trip and I was buying a tracksuit off this brand and they said to me ‘Do you model?’ I said ‘no’.

“So she took my number and Maddie rang my mum. She said ‘I’ve got this brand and would Mary like to model for it?'”

Mary continued: “I went to this shoot with my mum. It was a really fun day and after that I just did dribs and drabs.

“I was still in school so I was just building up a portfolio.

“I went to college so I didn’t really do modelling then. Few years later and Maddie had started up an agency and she contacted me again about starting to become a model.

“I signed with Maddie’s agency and i’ve since done work with PrettyLittleThing and a campaign for Ego.

“So I literally fell into it. I do model full time now. It’s the best job in the world and I’m so lucky.”

Fans will have to wait to see how Mary and Aaron’s relationship develops on the show.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVHub at 9pm
