The moment that Love Island star Faye Winter yelled at Teddy Soares has become the most-complained-about moment on TV this year.
The outburst racked up a whopping 24,763 complaints after Faye swore at Teddy after seeing a clip of him flirting with Clarisse in the ‘Mad Movies’ challenge.
While Faye watched the clip with the girls, she fumed at Teddy as she yelled that he didn’t tell her the truth.
Though Faye later apologised and the pair reconciled, fans were unimpressed with her actions and called for her to be removed from the show, as well as accusing the series of “messing with Faye and Teddy”.
A spokesperson for Ofcom said: “We’ve received a high volume of complaints about last week’s Love Island, which is consistent with a trend of growing complaints about high-profile TV shows. We are carefully assessing the complaints we’ve received, before deciding whether or not to investigate.”
It’s not the only time that the couple have been plagued by Ofcom complaints.
Just last week Love Island was hit with more than 5,000 complaints following the fallout of Casa Amor as the girls received a postcard which suggested that Teddy was cheating while he remained loyal and slept on a bed outside.
Research from the broadband team at Uswitch can now reveal that Love Island accounts for 1 in 6 complaints made to Ofcom.
Love Island is officially the most complained about reality TV show in the UK, overtaking Celebrity Big Brother.
A total of 36,669 complaints have been raised about the show during the last five years, with Love Island accounting for 15.4% of all Ofcom complaints.
The only show with higher complaints over the last five years has been Good Morning Britain.
This is largely in part due to Piers Morgan’s rant about Meghan Markle in March.
The outspoken presenter said that he did not believe Meghan when she said she was denied help by a senior member of the Palace when experiencing suicidal thoughts.
He sensationally quit the show after refusing to apologise for his comments and receiving a wave of backlash.
