Strictly Come Dancing confirm rugby ace Ugo Monye as final celebrity for 2021 series

Rugby Union star Ugo Monye has been confirmed as the final famous face taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2021.

The line-up for the upcoming series of the BBC one dancing competition is now complete with 14 celebrities taking part.

Ugo, who is a former Harlequins player, appeared on Channel 4’s The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan on Friday night to share his exciting news.

Originally from Islington, north London, Ugo, 38, was a student at Lord Wandsworth College before being introduced to Harlequin’s coach Colin Osborne.

He has played all sorts of positions including wing, centre and fullback in his career.

Ugo has also played for England, British and Irish Lions, during their 2009 tour to South Africa, Barbarian FC and England Saxons.

Earlier in the day, Loose Women’s Judi Love and Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty both confirmed their place on the show.

Comedian Judi shared her news live on the ITV daytime show, while Adam made his announcement on BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat.

The stellar line-up includes Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson, McFly star Tom Fletcher, Peep Show’s Robert Webb, TV presenter AJ Odudu, Hollyoaks babe Katie McGlynn, BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and actress Nina Wadia.

Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite will take part in the show’s first male same-sex partnership.

Also, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis is the first ever deaf contestant to join the show.

Last year’s Strictly was a different affair without a live audience but it is believed the show will be back to normal for 2021.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke will be back on the panel with former dance professional Anton replacing Bruno Tonioli as a full-time judge for the first time.

Meanwhile, four new professional dancers will be sashaying onto our screens this autumn.

The dazzling new dancers include Cameron Lombard, Kai Widdrington, Nikita Kuzmin and Jowita Przystal.
