Eight couples are about to meet for the very first time at the altar, as Married At First Sight UK returns.
The brand new series, starting soon on E4, has revealed the 16 brave souls who are taking part in the experiment.
Instead of legal marriages, the couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a glamorous ceremony, overseen by a wedding celebrant.
Following the celebrations, these recent strangers will embark on a luxurious honeymoon, before moving in with each other and their fellow couples. No pressure there, then.
The Australian version of MAFS became famous thanks to its explosive weekly dinner parties, and the UK show will also include them.
There will also be recurring commitment ceremonies, where couples choose whether they want to stay in or leave the process. All this and more will build to a dramatic series finale involving high-stakes vow renewals, where each couple must decide if they will recommit to their partner or go their separate ways.
No-nonsense Married At First Sight Australia expert Melanie Schilling and sex and relationship therapist Charlene Douglas will join returning star Paul C. Brunson (Celebs Go Dating)for the addictive new series.
Here are six of the singletons we’re most intrigued by…
THE BRIDES:
MARILYSE, 37. Personal trainer, Yorkshire.
Marilyse describes herself as strong, switched on and very positive. This Yorkshire lass lives a very sporty lifestyle and fitness means everything to her.
She needs an old-fashioned manly man who is full of passion and energy otherwise she gets bored. She wants to find her teammate in life who she can conquer the world with!
They just have to get her two sons’ approval first, who are keen for their mum to be with someone, but also have strong opinions on who that should be.
The perfect guy for Marilyse would be a man who is strong minded and strong-willed. She is looking for her best friend and soul mate.
NIKITA, 26. Sales, County Durham.
Sassy, confident, and outspoken, Nikita is not here to mess around.
Emotionally charged, stubborn and wearing her heart firmly on her sleeve, she finds that people tend to misjudge her. Nonetheless she wears those badges with pride and soon manages to win others around with her friendliness, banter and down to earth charm.
She has in fact already planned her wedding and picked her children’s names and believes that because she has fallen in love twice already, that this is her third time lucky…
MORAG, 31. Veterinary nurse, Essex.
Morag is the life and soul of every party, following an unconventional upbringing between Essex and Ibiza.
Unapologetically confident and loud, in her mid-twenties she chased her dream of being a veterinary nurse in Australia.
In 2019, Morag returned to the UK when her dad fell ill and recently died. Now, she’s determined to find love and is looking for a man who is ready to embrace her big laugh.
She wants a man who’s ready to begin a committed relationship but doesn’t want to settle down; they must be adventurous, fun and still love to party.
THE GROOMS:
ANT, 28. Business development, Manchester.
Ant is always the centre of attention – he knows he is good looking, and he gets away with it! Ant is very confident in his ability to influence situations and he believes that EVERYONE wants to be Ant’s friend.
He’s learnt the hard way to not take life for granted and wants to improve at being honest and opening up emotionally
Ultimately, he wants to be the good guy for the right match! The perfect person for Ant would be someone who is a funny, ambitious person and up for exploring and adventure!
FRANKY, 47. Strength and conditioning coach, Dubai.
This old school military man is a strong ,dominant leader who tells people exactly what he thinks.
Having fought for his country for 15 years and lived for 15 years in Dubai, Franky wants to find his soulmate who’ll be happy to join him overseas.
He desperately wants to find someone who shares his morals and his beliefs.
JORDAN, 27. Personal trainer, Cardiff.
Jordon is a gentle and very positive soul, but people don’t often see that side and misjudge him.
He was raised on the traditions and values of his grandmother, and also strongly believes in God and spirituality.
He would love to bring a partner home to meet his grandmother, but mostly he’s looking for someone with whom he can raise the family he never had.
