Where LazyTown cast are now – ditching fame, tragic cancer battle and Hollywood hit

Listen UP, UP, DO THE JUMP!

We’re really throwing it back to the noughties with this one and we’re about to serve you with a plate full of nostalgia.

If you didn’t feel old before reading this then listen up, LazyTown premiered 15 years ago…. WHAT?!

We get it, you’re thinking “where has the time gone?”, but we have no idea either, as it only feels like yesterday when we were eating our Shreddies on the sofa while this bad boy of a show was on.

Now, whether you loved it or loathed it, you most certainly will remember it by its cheesy tunes and bold and bright outfits.

So, let’s take a look at what the cast of the Icelandic musical kid’s show are up to now…

Julianna Mauriello

Julianna played Stephanie, the super-stretchy shero!

Remember Lazy Town’s pink-haired star, Stephanie? Well, she’s 100% all grown up and is kinda unrecognisable.

The energetic character was actually played by not one but two actresses during the run of the show from 2004 to 2014, but the first star is now 30 years old.

OG fans of the show will recall Julianna playing the energetic role of Stephanie in seasons one and two.

Julianna is now a trained occupational therapist

Julianna left the programme when she felt like she outgrew the role and decided to leave the showbiz world behind to focus on her studies.

The former actress is not only talented (and flexible), but she’s also extremely intelligent having attended an Ivy League school in New York City.

The star then went on to take her master’s degree in occupational therapy at the prestigious Columbia University and is now a fully qualified occupational therapist.

When Julianna left, Chloe took over and starred as Stephanie between 2013 and 2014.

Chloe joined in season three and was kept on for season four as well, which was the show’s final series.

Chloe is now 19 and still focusing on acting as a career, having starred in a TV show called Brooke & Carly in the role of Jasmine in 2016, and a short film called The Fifth Borough as the character Skylar in 2017.

She is also a talented singer, and in December 2018 she released a video for a song she wrote called Party Down the Road.

Talking about songs, the LazyTown bangers have been resurfacing lately on TikTok and could partly be down to this young lady.

Chloe has been sharing behind the scenes clips and dressing up as Stephanie to her 404.9K followers.

Stefan Karl Stefansson

Unfortunately, the Robbie Rotten star Stefan Karl Stefansson passed away at age 43 following a two-year cancer battle.

The Icelandic actor, who played the villain in the popular children’s TV show, died surrounded by his friends and family on August 21, 2018.

Stefansson was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016 and initially appeared to be on the path to recovery after surgery.

But he revealed to fans in March 2018 that his cancer had returned and was inoperable.

Writing on Twitter, 42-year-old Stefan pleaded with his followers to live their lives to the full.

His co-star Julianna took to social media to pay tribute to him, writing: “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

“I always will be dancing right beside you.

“But I know you are not alone, you have my mom and grandma.

“Please watch over me. I will try to stay strong.”

Magnús Scheving

Alongside being the hero of the show and LazyTown’s answer to Mr Motivator, Magnús is also the CEO, creator, and co-founder of LazyTown Entertainment.

His company produces books, videos, games, and sporting goods to help promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle to children.

In 2006, Magnús, now 56, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Icelandic Edda Award ceremonies for his work as founder and creator of the LazyTown franchise.

Magnús later starred in the 2010 film The Spy Next Door, alongside Jackie Chan, in which he portrayed a Russian villain called Poldark who attempted to destroy all of the world’s oil supplies.

After LazyTown Entertainment was bought by Turner Broadcasting in the summer of 2011, Magnús announced that he would be departing the role of Sportacus in late 2014 and depart from his position as CEO of the company too.

Since mid-2016, along with his partner, Hrefna Björk Sverrisdóttir, he has owned and run a Scandinavian/seafood restaurant in Reykjavík called ROK.

That’s all we have for the roundup, considering the other cast mates were puppets, so we’ll say Bing Bang, we mean, Bye-bye!
