Olly Murs suffers another injury as he's hit in face with suncream bottle on stage

Singer Olly Murs has been injured on stage after a bottle of suncream was thrown at his face by a fan.

The 37-year-old singer who shot to fame on The X Factor was left rubbing his eyes after a bottle of suncream landed on his face.

Taking to the stage at Newbury Racecourse wearing a leg brace on Saturday afternoon Olly admitted he was trying to “take it easy” after having surgery on his knee just 11 days before.

Olly needed to have surgery on his knee at the beginning of August after he had yet another on-stage accident which caused fragment of bone to lodge itself in the back of his knee.

On Saturday one fan in the audience threw a bottle of suncream onto the stage, which flew at Olly full pelt and hit him directly in the face.

After the performance he said: “The gig was amazing. To be honest with you, it felt better than I thought. I was trying to be a bit cautious on stage.’”

Olly then took to Instagram to go live after the event, where he addressed the suncream incident.

“The suncream was not a good idea half way through the gig,” He said.

“Thanks to the person who threw it at me, my eyes are still stinging from that.”

He also posted a photo to his Instagram grid, where fans gushed over the star and praised him for performing after a knee operation.

“Well done for getting out there and doing your thing even with a recovering knee… smashed it!” One fan said.

Earlier this month when the star need knee surgery, he took to Instagram to update his fans.

Olly, 37, explained that he underwent surgery after he jumped during a performance.

“Why is Olly in the hospital bed? I’ve just had surgery on my left leg.

“For some of you who came to my Newmarket gig on Friday, thank you for your kind messages of support and just checking it was OK.

“It has been a mad 72 hours since the gig getting to this point.

“Basically after my second song, a fragment of bone that was in my knee managed, after I jumped, to lodge itself on the back of my knee which basically shut my leg down.

“During the gig I was just limping the whole time. Couldn’t believe it. Basically, I am in, I have had the surgery. I wanted to get this done because of the Newbury gig on the 14th and Singleton Park on the 15th.

“I wanted to do this for you guys. It will be a different gig, I probably won’t be running around like I normally do.

“There might be a stool for me to sit down on. But I cannot cancel these gigs for you guys. It was such an amazing vibe on Friday at Newmarket so I will give it absolutely everything next week.

He finished the Instagram live by saying: “I’m going to stay positive and rest up for the next few days. Lots of love, everyone.”
