Maura Higgins has dubbed boyfriend Giovanni Pernice “my man” ahead of his reported former flame Katie McGlynn’s appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.
The Love Island star, 30, and the professional dancer confirmed their romance earlier this year and posting to her Instagram stories earlier today (August 19), Maura was asked to share a picture of she and Giovanni together.
“Show us some pics of you and Gio,” a fan wrote. “[Literally] couple goals.”
In response, Maura posted a loved up picture of the pair alongside the caption “my man” and a heart emoji.
It comes as Giovanni is set to reunite with his rumoured ex and Hollyoaks star Katie, 28, on this year’s series of Strictly.
The pair were pictured together back in 2017 and reportedly dated for a while.
Katie, who is most known for her role as Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street, was announced to be joining the 2021 Strictly Come Dancing line-up earlier this month.
Her casting comes as Strictly sources are reportedly anguishing over the decision of whether to pair up Katie and Giovanni, with concerns about Maura’s reaction at the forefront of their minds.
An insider told The Sun: “This would be a dream ticket for Strictly producers, but a potential nightmare for the trio concerned.
“The show’s bosses always strive to pair up pros and celebrities likely to have the most chemistry. In that respect, Giovanni and Katie are an obvious choice.
“But they have to consider if that could have the knock-on effect of making life so difficult outside of the rehearsal studio that it might impact on their performances.”

On her Strictly gig, Katie said previously: “I’m really not a dancer, but I’m so excited to learn a new skill on this crazy journey and cannot wait to slip into some sequins along the way.
She added: “I can’t promise that I’ll be the best, but I’m going to give it 110% on the dance floor! As long as I don’t fall over I’ll be happy.”
