Chris Ramsey jokes he'll smash up Tipping Point machine before tense final round

Chris Ramsey joked that he’d smash up the Tipping Point arcade machine if it didn’t co-operate with him during Saturday’s episode of the ITV gameshow.

Host Ben Shephard was on hand to introduce the episode’s contestants, with model and presenter Vogue Williams and MasterChef star Gregg Wallace joining comedian Chris.

Chris, 35, explained in his self-introduction that he was from South Shields, so if the coin dropping machine didn’t go his way, he’d have no issue smashing it up.

“My name’s Chris Ramsey, I’m a stand up comedian from South Shields,” he started.

“Now, in South Shields we’ve got a very specific way of dealing with machines like this.

“Basically, in a nut shell, if the machine’s not paying out, I will just smash it up.”

And it sounds like the machine might have heard him, because he stormed the competition and made it to the tense final round.

Chris had a strong start, being the first of the contestants to use up all of his counters in the opening round.

And despite being slow to leave the starting line, Gregg soon stormed past beauty Vogue, meaning the model was knocked out of the competition.

Gregg didn’t have what it took to beat Chris though, and the celebrity chef was sent packing just before the final round.

The final round, with the £10,000 jackpot counter up for grabs, was seriously tense, with Chris getting frustrated at the coin drops.

A number of his early drops ended up riding, being completely useless in his mission to get the jackpot counter to fall out of the machine.

“I hate you,” he fumed at the machine, despite having a successful early run on the show.

Eventually, despite getting his questions right, it became clear that Chris had no chance of getting the all important jackpot token.

After he used all of his counters, Chris had banked £7,100 and decided it would be a “massive risk” to take the gamble of three extra counters, so took the money for his charity.

It turned out to be the right decision, as the play through with the three counters did nothing to move the jackpot token.

Chris had been playing for the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust, which raises funds for the people in the North East to help with sport and performance expenses.

Tipping Point continues weekdays at 4pm on ITV
