Paddy McGuiness forced to 'bite his lip' after stranger's comment about his children

Paddy McGuinness has revealed the moment he was left speechless following a stranger’s comment about his children.

The 48-year-old and his doting wife Christine, 33, are proud parents to their three gorgeous children; eight-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and their youngest daughter Felicity, five.

They have been open about the fact all three of their children have been diagnosed with Autism and have used their fame as a platform to raise awareness about the condition.

Autism is a developmental disability which affects the way those who have been diagnosed interact with other people, particularly through communication.

But as the condition centres on human behaviour, Autism can also be described as an ‘invisible disability’ meaning other people may not view those diagnosed as disabled without meeting them.

The Take Me Out presenter voiced his opinions of the misconceptions surrounding the disorder after he held his tongue when he overheard the judgemental thoughts of a nearby stranger.

As the doting dad left their car with his family, a fellow shopper questioned the legitimacy of their children’s disability despite the fact their blue disabled parking badge was on display.

The Max and Paddy star managed to “bit his lip” following the vulgar comment that his children “don’t look disabled” as they exited the car park, and instead shared his views on the awkward encounter with the BBC and Sky News.

Speaking to Sky News, the star explained: “I’ve had to educate a bloke there that has clearly been judgmental at why we were parking there even though we had a blue badge.

“He said, ‘they don’t look disabled’, you know, you’ve got to bite your lip in those circumstances.”

Following the ignorant chat, Paddy went on to add that there needs to be more education surrounding the condition to reduce terrible comments from this happening in the future.

He told the BBC: “I think things like that are important to sort of educate people and let them know exactly why you’re in that disabled spot, but that’s only a little tiny thing.

Paddy and Christine are patrons for the National Autistic Society and have helped raise hundreds of thousands for the charity.
