Ricky Gervais issues update to After Life fans over the fate of beloved Brandy the dog

Actor and comedian Ricky Gervais has issued an update to fans over Brandy’s fate, the dog from the popular show After Life.

Played by acting dog Anti, Brandy is a beautiful German Shephard dog, who we now know will come back in the third season of the British comedy.

After Life follows Tony, a local journalist who was contemplating suicide after his wife died of breast cancer. However, he stops himself when he sees his beloved dog looking hungrily at her dinner bowl.

The 60-year-old comedian has revealed what is to come for Brandy in the series, which is something he’s mentioned a number of times online, the Mirror reports.

On August 11, he tweeted: “Thanks for making #AfterLife the most-watched British comedy in the world. Season 3 is the best yet. Also, the dog does not die. Good Girl!”

The show has been seen by 80 million people, winning the title of most-watched British Comedy in the world three years in a row.

The dog, whose full name is Antilly the Wonder Hound, is a professional stunt dog who has appeared on Doc Martin, and helped bring the robot dogs of Kingsman: The Golden Circle to life.

She’s also appeared on Paul O’Grady’s For The Love of Dogs, and performed live on Britain’s Got More Talent.

But when she’s not on set for shows like Father Brown and Liar, or, of course, comforting Tony in AfterLife, she lives at home in Buckingham with fellow stunt dog ‘Wylie Smiley Boggle Chops’ and two rescue cats.

Over the weekend, Ricky shared a photo of him and Anti, and said: “One of the main themes of AfterLife is that a dog can save your life. This is ramped up in season 3 & she becomes as important as any other character.”

Filming for season three of AfterLife wrapped up in June, after 35 days on set.

Whilst an official release date is yet to be determined, there’s been speculation it could hit the popular streaming site as early as December 2021, or in the first few months of 2022.
