BBC Breakfast became slightly awkward to watch as Nina Warhurst began to grumble about matters of the heart.
The 40-year-old complained that she would “never have a partner or children” after interviewing a huge family of a Paralympian.
As the camera diverted back to the studio, Nina gave away details about her own personal circumstances and moaned that she wouldn’t be able to “cope” if a family member had been representing Great Britain in Tokyo.
She said: “Honestly speaking to the relatives I couldn’t cope with that.”
Turning to her co-star Roger Johnson, Nina asked: “Could you?”
Nina went on: “Your partner or your children… I mean that’s never going to happen for me with the way things are panning out… you know it’s so stressful.”
Not knowing how to respond, Roger chimed: “Must be so nerve wracking mustn’t it?
As Nina added: “Yeah.”
Interjecting Rojer said: “And to not be able to be there, as they were always able to be there to support, to be watching like the rest of us.”
Viewers of the show weren’t enamoured with the segments which featured the families of those competing in Tokyo’s 2021 Paralympics.
Many took to their keyboards to moan that the interviews were “boring”.
One person wrote: “Really don’t understand this fascination (BBC in particular) to know every detail about UK competitors taking part in Olympics/Paralympics and getting families on to divulge it.
“It’s getting to a point where they’ll be asking if they’ve had a dump in preparation. #BBCBreakfast.”
Another vented: “‘We’re pleased, proud and thrilled’ – its bad enough listening to interviews with monosyllabic sportspersons, but we now have to endure their friends/families/ex-teachers #BBCBreakfast.”
While another blasted: “This interminable interviewing of competitor’s families is so boring …..#BBCBreakfast”
