Soccer Aid player Chelcee Grimes breaks silence on I'm A Celeb rumours

Chelcee Grimes was widely speculated to be appearing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last year alongside the likes of AJ Pritchard and Shane Ritchie.

However, the Liverpool-born singer-songwriter and footballer has opened up exclusively to Daily Star about the rumours and insisted that she would not be able to isolate again after the past 18 months.

It was claimed that Chelcee, 29, had been tipped to be a late entry into the castle last year should one of the contestants have had to withdraw due to Covid-19 testing.

The star, who has written tracks for the likes of Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and K-Pop band Blackpink, said that neither Strictly Come Dancing nor I’m a Celebrity… Get me Out of Here! are on her list of priorities.

“Right now not so much, no, I know last year there were a few stories about me on I’m A Celeb,” she said.

Chelcee went on to tell us: “I think at the minute, I’ve been isolating for that long so I don’t think I’d be able to go and isolate somewhere else.

“Especially in a jungle and eating bugs.”

Discussing the possibility of appearing on next year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing, Chelcee added: “Dancing is not really my thing, maybe in a few years if I did a bit of practice but I think right now, I’ve got enough on my plate.

“Especially with the football, the TV and the podcast, so I’m quite happy watching it from home.”

Chelcee is preparing to participate in Soccer Aid this coming Saturday

Currently, Chelcee is a presenter on Match of the Day spin-off show MOTDX, airing on BBC Two, as well as often presenting on NFL End Zone, airing on Channel 5.

She is also hoping to create history by becoming the first female to score at Soccer Aid this coming Saturday, September 4.

“Hopefully this year, I will get a goal but we won last year which was amazing but there was no crowd, so this time, obviously a full Etihad Stadium, it’s going to be amazing,” she said.

Chelcee continued: “It was only two years ago women were allowed to play. I’ve watched Soccer Aid since I was a kid just imagining one day I’d play there.

“But obviously when they did announce women playing two years ago, it was just England professionals so I didn’t think there would ever be a chance for me but last year I was the first woman to play from entertainment, that was a bit of history.

“If I can go on and score, it would be magic, but as long as we win and raise loads of money, that’s the main thing.”
