Shaun Ryder too petrified of hospital to get agonising testicular growths removed

Gogglebox star Shaun Ryder has gone back on the road with his band Black Grape despite suffering severe pain as the pair of cysts are pressing on nerves.

He admitted he has refused to go under the knife as he’s haunted by seeing his granny come out of a cancer operation with both legs amputated – and the torment of his double hip replacement.

Step On singer Shaun, famed for his “you’re twisting my melon, man” lyric, said about the prospect of surgery: “I just don’t want them messing with my b*****ks.

“It was bad enough having my hips done.”

The reformed hell-raiser added: “My nana ended up losing her f*****g legs – I haven’t had to get my f*****g legs taken off yet.

“I’m riddled with arthritis, but I try not to go into hospital.”

Despite only turning 59 last week, Shaun says he feels a year older and now fears death.

He added: “I’m f***ing 60 now, so I’ve only 20 years left! – if I get to 80.”

Shaun was first struck by a testicular cancer scare last summer when doctors traced his agonising nerve pain to a lump in one of his testicles.

Cancer tests showed the growth was benign, but it left him in severe pain throughout the UK’s Covid lockdown.

Shaun’s agony then doubled after he recently developed a second lump in his other testicle.

He was given the all-clear after both growths were checked for cancer – a disease the reformed wild man says “runs through my family like a f*****g madness”.

Former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun said after finding the first lump just before the Covid lockdown was imposed: “It’s like having really bad toothache in your b***s.

“I can have the growth chucked out, but I should’ve gone before lockdown started.”

The Channel 4 star previously revealed that he takes painkillers to help him manage with the uncomfortable condition.

Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, the Manchester legend explained: “I just keep taking the tablets and painkillers as they hitting the nerves in my b*****ks.”
