Ashley Cain has promised to save thousands of children’s lives to honour his daughter, as he sets up a foundation in her name.
Azaylia Diamond Cain tragically died from acute myeloid leukaemia aged just eight months in April this year.
Her parents Ashley and Safiyya Vorajee have now set up The Azaylia Foundation to help other parents and children suffering the same ordeal they have.
Among its aims, the foundation seeks to help alert parents to the possible symptoms of the disease and to support families who are fundraising for treatments that may not be readily available on the NHS.
Speaking to the Sun, reality TV star Ashley explained that the couple wanted to help others now as part of Azaylia’s legacy.
He said: “This is about getting children and their families through the worst time of their lives. These cancers are only rare because no one is talking about them and raising awareness. We have a new purpose in life.
“Helping other children in Azaylia’s name means more to us than the air in our lungs.”
Earlier this year Ashley and Safiyya raised £1.5million in less than 24 hours to fund specialist treatment for Azaylia in Singapore, but tragically she became to unwell to go.
Her struggle became worldwide news, and even attracted the attention of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who said his heart broke for her.
Ashley said that they want to use the funds to help families who need financial support and to give hope to children suffering, saying the money will hap save “hundreds if not thousands of children across this country”.
Ashley says: “You can’t take your child’s illness away but you can control the energy around them.
“Invest your time and energy and make the most of every second. Give your child belief, inspiration and hope — that will keep them powering through.”
He called Azaylia “a heroic figure to look up to” and said that the foundation helped him and Safiyya as it was like “we still have a part of Azaylia with us”.
