Gemma Collins aims to be 'next Charlie Dimmock' as she plans gardening career

Gemma Collins is no stranger to getting her hands dirty and working hard but it appears the self-proclaimed diva plans to get them dirty in another way – taking over from Charlie Dimmock.

The former car saleswoman who found fame on ITV’s The Only Way Is Essex is hoping that she may become a firm favourite in the horticulture industry.

Gemma, 40, has made no secret about her love of gardening, telling her Instagram followers that she is pleading with her management team to help secure her a television programme.

Now, it seems that The GC is ready to take the plunge at one of the nation’s largest gardening events.

Gemma said: “I desperately want a gardening show. I know you all love me for the reality, but actually, youngsters need to know the power of gardening and how much it can bring to your life.

“I’ve been very busy in the garden and I can’t wait to get to the Chelsea Gardening Show, who knows?

“I could have my own patch there one day with my own fabulous magical garden.”

Gemma, who now fronts her own television show Diva Forever on ITVBe, has previously opened up about her stunning garden, admitting that she spends time admiring it from her summer house.

Opening up further on her BBC Sounds podcast, she said: “I’ve learnt so much this year, I was even thinking of doing a gardening course at my local college.”

She continued: “But then I was like, ‘Are they going to think I’m not taking this serious’ or a bit strange, like, ‘Gemma Collins is turning up to do a gardening course?’

“I think if my schedule allows, it is something I want to do.”

Last month, the blonde bombshell urged her online followers to head out into their gardens and get their hands dirty after revealing she had once again been to the garden centre.

In a video shared to her Instagram Stories, she said: “So if I didn’t already tell you, I’m obsessed with gardening.

“I keep asking Mark [Gemma’s agent] to get me a gardening with the GC show. The face he pulls,” alongside a laughing emoji.

She later went on to say: “Get gardening everyone, give back to mother nature and help the bees – you will thank me one day.”

In true GC style, she has kept her followers up to date with her garden’s stunning transformation, documenting it on her Instagram page.

Gemma said: “So we have nearly completed the work on my summer house and it’s coming together. I am getting my little bits and pieces up it’s been absolutely, just seeing it being done from start to finish is just life-changing.

“It’s all coming together. Filming at the house for the next two days.”
