TV Choice Awards 2021: Ant and Dec lose to Gogglebox as Line of Duty scores hattrick

TV Choice Awards 2021 returned virtually on Monday night.

The show was hosted by comedian Rob Beckett and the star-studded ceremony saw many awards swept up by famous famous from the world of television.

Line Of Duty and Coronation Street were the big winners of the night, picking up a hattrick each of the reader-voted awards each.

The BBC police drama won Best Drama Series, while show stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure won their acting categories – meaning the show won three awards in total.

Best Entertainment Show, in association With Greatest Hits Radio, was awarded to Channel 4’s Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox – knocking Ant and Dec down a peg, meaning Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway didn’t win this year.

Netflix series Bridgerton, which stars Phoebe Dynevor, took home Best Drama gong.

Paul O’Grady: For The Love Of Dogs, which airs on ITV and warms audiences hearts with the cutest little dogs, was awarded Best Factual Show.

Best Reality Show was swept up by none other than Ant and Dec for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which airs on ITV – and will be making a massive return in a matter of weeks.

James Martin took home Best Food Show for his Saturday Morning programme on ITV.

The Vicar Of Dibley In Lockdown was a roaring success and was awarded Best Comedy.

David Neilson who plays the loveable Roy Cropper in Coronation Street won Best Soap Actor, while colleague Sally Carman who plays Abi Franklin took home Best Soap Actress.

And the big one – Best Soap was awarded to the entire Coronation Street team. Meaning the cobbles beat fellow soap operas EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

The Great British Bake Off beat The Masked Singer and won Best Talent Show – proving there are no soggy bottoms.

Getting our heart strings pulled is clearly an enjoyable thing these days, since Long Lost Family took home Best Lifestyle Show.

Awarded Best Daytime Show, ITV’s This Morning has been keeping fans entertained all over lockdown and been a complete rock to so many.
