Jimmy Carr is sure to have left fans speechless after announcing that he is a dad, live on stage.
The comedian, 48, has been seen out and about around London with his long-term girlfriend, Channel 5 executive, Karoline Copping, with a pram since 2020.
It’s been reported that Jimmy made several gags about his little boy during a performance at the O2 Academy in Brixton, south London.
During a comedy skit, Jimmy who fronts 8 Out of Ten Cats is believed to have made jokes about abortions as well as comas.
The Sun claims he told the audience: “I had to tell my little boy he’s adopted.”
He is quoted as saying: “I mean, he isn’t, but the look on his face. I said, ‘No, no, no, you were adopted, the new family is picking you up tomorrow.'”
Jimmy is believed to have added: “We’re having a gender-reveal party for our kid but we’re going to wait until he’s 21 just to be sure.
“With some babies, you can’t tell, is it a boy or an ugly girl.”
Jimmy has been spotted pushing a pram through north London on several occasions since 2020 but hasn’t addressed the snaps or being a parent until now.
The Isleworth-born star has been in a relationship with Karoline, commissioning editor for Channel 5 since meeting her in 2001.
Discussing their relationship during an appearance on Radio 4’s Desert Island discs, Jimmy claimed that Karoline wasn’t impressed by him on first appearance but he fell in love the second he saw her.
“I knew, it felt perfect,” he said.
The comedian who is known for his recognisable laugh and dark sense of humour said he was worried he may be “cancelled” following the end of lockdown and returning to the stage.
Speaking to Jonathan Ross on his self-titled ITV programme, he said: “Not being able to go out there and do what we normally do has been a challenge.
“I think I’ll probably get cancelled, I’ll be a bit giddy and overexcited, I’m a dab hand at it now.”
Daily Star has approached Jimmy’s representative for comment.
