Meghan Markle’s reported plans to cast Michelle Obama in her latest Netflix project have allegedly gone “through the pan” after she and Prince Harry were not invited to Barack Obama’s birthday party.
A royal commenter has claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had hoped to add “big voice-over” names for her new animated series and that her attention was once on the former First Lady.
However, after failing to score an exclusive invite to the Obama’s party, she had now set her sights on the couple’s friend and neighbour, Oprah Winfrey, according to reports.
Speaking to the Express, royal commentator Neil Sean claimed: “What they really hope to do is get big voice-over names.
“Now Michelle Obama was one that Meghan Markle was very keen to sign up but that went through the pan when they didn’t get an invite to that spectacular 60th birthday for the former President.
“I’m not saying Michelle’s now on the back burner but let’s put it this way, the present hasn’t been delivered yet and I kid you not.
“Now they’re casting their eyes around to see who else they could really connect with and one of the ideas would be their friend for now, loosely speaking, the chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.”
Barack Obama rang in his 60th birthday on August 4, surrounded by a host of stars at his property in Martha’s Vineyard.
The star-studded guest list included Beyonce, George Clooney, director Steven Spielberg, John Legend, and Alicia Keys.
Since relocating to LA, Harry and Meghan have moved in similar social circles to the Obamas, and royal biographer Angelia Levin has suggested they will have felt snubbed after being left off the guest list.
Michelle Obama has voiced her support in the past for Meghan after the explosive Oprah interview, praising her for sneakingly candidly about her mental health.
Prince Harry and Meghan are currently establishing their non-profit foundation Archewell, which is aimed at tackling issues of female empowerment, gender equality, and mental health.
It is thought that the couple took inspiration from the Obama Foundation, which is focused on community leadership and giving opportunities to disadvantaged children.
