Piers Morgan hugs Kate Garraway as they reunite for first time since abrupt GMB exit

Piers Morgan and Kate Garraway reunited for the first time since Piers dramatically left Good Morning Britain.

The pair previously co-hosted the ITV morning show together before Piers’ sensational exit following his comments about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Back in March, Piers even stormed off the show after getting embroiled in a row with his co-star Alex Beresford, who was defending Meghan and wanted to call Piers out on his remarks.

Piers and Kate hadn’t seen eachother in over six months, but they’ve enjoyed a warm friendship since with Piers regularly praising Kate.

They finally crossed paths in person on Tuesday night at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards.

Piers gave Kate a big hug, and shared a photo of the two smiling together in their glam outfits – with Piers looking dapper in his suit and Kate looking lovely in her formal dress.

Taking to Instagram, Piers shared the snap with the caption: “Reunited! First time we’ve seen each other since I left @gmb #whocareswins”

Fans were left delighted as they saw the two hanging out at the event, with many flocking to comment on the photo and praise Kate.

One wrote: “This pic makes me smile,”

A second penned: “Such a great pic of you both.”

A third was feeling sympathetic for Kate amid her husband’s ill health when they said: “If anyone deserves a hug it’s Kate.”

A fourth commented: “Wish you were still on gmb. never be the same without you,”

A fifth added: “My 2 favourites! X”

It comes after Kate’s win at the National Television Awards for Best Documentary after her ITV film Finding Derek.

The project focused on Kate as she looked after husband Derek during his road to recovery, after he fell into a coma after contracting Covid-19 last year.

Derek has been recovering at home after he left hospital earlier this year.

At the time, Piers offered some words of support for Kate on social media, expressing how much he “loves” her and how tough life has been for her.

He wrote: “Love her. @kategarraway. One of the bravest most inspiring people I’ve ever known. People have no idea of the true hell she’s going through because she’s always putting others first & never complains”

Concluding the post, he said: “Just pray her Derek comes out the other side.”

Kate is set to move from ITV to BBC to take on an exciting new presenting role, and she told the Star: “I am thrilled to be part of this fascinating new series.

“I believe we have all become increasingly curious about our health and well-being since the start of the pandemic, including me personally.”
