This Morning fans reckon Jodie Comer is losing her real accent – Scouse – after she made an appearance on the ITV show.
The Killing Eve star sat on the sofa with Stephen Graham to discuss their new show Help, which sees them both use their native Liverpool accents.
And while many people are often surprised to hear Jodie’s real voice – instead of her Russian accent with character Villanelle – some were saying she was actually losing her Scouse accent.
One person said on Twitter: “What’s with Jodie’s dodgy put on fake muddled American accent? She sounds absolutely ridiculous.”
Another said: “Where’s her Liverpool accent gone?”
A third wrote: “Jodie Comer is losing her Scouse accent,” adding a crying emoji.
However someone else said: “OMG if you’re not hearing Jodie’s Scouse accent you need your ears syringed.”
Host Phillip Schofield spoke about Jodie’s accent, saying people were still surprised to hear it.
But Jodie wasn’t so sure that her Liverpudlian accent came as a shock to people any more.
She said: “It’s funny because I’ve always been, if I’m doing a character it’s best to change my accent because then I can lose myself and get away from myself more.”
The popular star went on: “When we spoke with [director] Marc Munden and [writer] Jack Thorne at the beginning [of Help], we wanted it to feel very immersive and very real.”
The Channel 4 drama follows the story of Jodie’s character Sarah getting a job in a care home at the start of the Covid pandemic.
Stephen plays Tony, a 47-year-old who has been diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimers.
The 120-minute drama shows how Sarah and Tony’s lives are changed by the pandemic.
And while Jodie was excited for the premiere of Help, she seemed even more happy to be on This Morning.
“I’m so made up, you don’t know” she smiled. “I’ve watched This Morning my whole life, so this is very surreal.”
Of course, Phil and Holly couldn’t let her leave without quizzing her on the final season of Killing Eve.
She said: “We’re about to start [filming] the final two episodes, so it’s crazy.
“It’s been four years of our lives and we want to make sure we end it on a good note that’s satisfying for the audience but truthful for the characters.”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
