Molly-Mae Hague makes cryptic dig after PrettyLittleThing 9/11 tribute backlash

Former Love Island beauty turned creative director, Molly-Mae Hague, has appeared to hit back at the backlash over PrettyLittleThing’s controversial 9/11 photo.

To commemorate the tragic happenings on September 11 2001, PrettyLittleThing posted a photo with their own font in pastel pink lettering over a black and white photograph of the twin towers.

The post was met with a huge backlash, with Twitter users in uproar over the ‘distasteful’ post, with some joking that the brand would do a 20% off deal ‘in honour of the 20 year anniversary’.

Social media users were horrified that the brand had appeared to ‘brand’ the tragic terrorist attack, with many asking how the brand and Molly-Mae, their new creative director, approved it.

Molly-Mae though, appears to have hit back at the backlash with a subtle post on her Instagram Story.

The 22-year-old creative director for PLT has not yet addressed the issue, but she has taken to her Instagram stories where she appeared to be dismissive of the criticism as she reinforced a positive message while re-decorating her home office.

Taking to her stories, the former Love Island contestant who has rocketed to fame since her appearance posted a video as she took down prints from her wall and replaced them with brand new artwork, including one which aptly read: “Good vibes only”.

The timely message appeared to address why she chooses not to respond to negative comments from critics,.

Molly was recently appointed creative director of fashion house PrettyLittleThing, which was accused of “slapping its brand on a tragedy” on Saturday.

The Love Island star and PLT sparked outrage after sharing the controversial image on Twitter and Instagram.

One follower said: “It’s pretty easy to understand why you should have left 9/11 well alone. Zero relevance to your brand.”

Molly didn’t address the outrage and instead went to the Lake District for a cosy camping holiday with boyfriend Tommy Fury and her sister Zoe.

Upon her return, she’s still chosen not to respond to the backlash and was even seen shielding her face when spotted out and about in Manchester the other day.
